 Travellers on a Croatia holiday should seize the opportunity to see Dubrovnik from high above.The city's famed cable-car has been completed restored and is expected to re-open in June. At the height of its popularity before regional conflicts, the car took around 2.5 million visitors to Mount Srd annually. Up to thirty people can be seated in one car, making it ideal for large groups of adventurous holiday makers. The mountain overlooks the entire walled city and is a favourite spot for climbers attracted to the region's peaks. Those who aren't willing to brave the 400 metre climb will now be able to see the same views after a three-minute journey in the cable-car - and then relax at the new tourist complex built at the top. Meri Matesic, UK and Ireland director of the Croatian National Tourist Office, said that there are an array of new tourist attractions there, including an amphitheatre and new bars and restaurants. She added: "During the bright, sunny days visibility is up to 60 kilometre distance so it is expected that the cable car will become popular tourist spot and attraction again."  |
