Hvar, a destination that travellers can visit during Croatia sailing holidays, was recently voted one of Europe's leading
islands. The scenic hotspot took sixth place in the European islands section of the 2009 Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards. Hvar was ranked ahead of other popular holiday destinations including Madeira, Sardinia and the Greek islands of Crete and Rhodes. Travellers can experience the destination for themselves by including it on their Adriatic cruise itinerary. One route begins in the historic city of Dubrovnik and visits the islands of Korcula, Hvar and Mljet, as well as other destinations, before returning to the departure point. People planning Croatia sailing holidays can also choose a cruise that starts and finishes in Split, visiting locations such as Zadar, Vodice and Trogir. In its guide to the Dalmatian coast, Concierge.com advises visitors to take a swim in the Adriatic and try to speak the language, stating that Croats "love to hear tourists trying out their tongue". ![]() |
