 Croatia holiday makers may be interested in seeing Hvar, which was voted the world's fifth best island.Travel and Leisure placed the Croatian island only four places below Galapagos, Kauai, Cyclades and Bali in its ranking of the best must-see destinations. Travellers to the region may want to take in the island on a Croatia sailing holiday. Hvar has long been talked up as the ultimate discreet celebrity hideaway, because of its casual luxury and good food. The actress Eva Longoria spent the last few days of her stay partying at the Carpe Diem night club, according to the Daily Mail. Carpe Diem is one of the best known night destinations, but for those who aren't into crazy all night partying, it might be worth checking out a few local restaurants to sample the locally-made wine, which is growing in reputation. Hvar was also named as one of the best off-the-beaten-track destinations by Calgary Herald last year, with the newspaper praising its "small villages, vineyards, and the fig and olive groves".  |
