| Astro-park to become part of Croatia holidays |
| Tuesday, 28 July 2009 15:54 |
People taking Croatia holidays this summer will be able to visit a new observatory in the city of
Makarska. The observatory will be accompanied by an astro-park, which will be located on the same site, reports the Croatian Times. Both the developments are located on the site of a historic building, which is now in ruins. The observatory will feature a five-metre-high dome and a telescope, while the astro-park will make the area the first of its kind in Croatia. According to the newspaper, the original idea for the new development came from the country's DAUP Orion astronomical association three years ago. "Makarska and Orion want to make their astro-park unique not just in Croatia but also in the rest of Europe," suggested the publication, prior to the opening of the new site. The observatory and park were launched at the weekend (Saturday, July 25th) as Orion celebratedits tenth anniversary. ![]() |
