The number of visitors coming to the Balkans for a Croatia holiday last year was up on 2010 figures,
with the Split-Dalmatia region proving the most popular.According to reports from The Croatian Times, 11,200,113 people enjoyeda Croatia holiday in 2011, up eight per cent on the number seen the previous year. There was little surprise about the most popular destination either, with the Split-Dalmatia County seeing 1,881,741 visitors over the course of the 12 months. This region encompasses the cities of Split and Dubrovnik, both of which are known for their gorgeous sandy beaches and array of Adriatic cruises on offer. Speaking in a recent interview regarding the popular Dalmatian Coast, National Tourist Board director pointed to the excellent value that sailing holidays in Croatia offer. "It's part of the Mediterranean but also still has a sense of adventure," he said. "There is also a good balance between the money you're paying and the quality of service you receive." With opportunities to cruise Croatia in Rijeka, Hvar and Makarska, it is easy to see why more visitors are flocking the region. ![]() |
