Split to attend its annual festival.The 2009 Split Summer Festival will get underway on July 14th and provide all sorts of entertainment across the coastal city up to August 14th. Having been held in the city centre every year since 1954, the festival has become one of Split's most popular and well-known cultural traditions. People who fit a visit to Split into their Croatia sailing itineraries will be able to explore art exhibitions, see live music concerts, enjoy street theatre and attend opera performances. Highlights will include a rendition of Carl Orff's composition Carmina Burana and a concert on August 7th featuring music by everyone from Antonio Vivaldi to Miles Davis. Split, which is included on several Croatia sailing holiday itineraries, boasts plenty of sights for holidaymakers to see during their visit, including the Diocletian Palace, which is a Unesco World Heritage site.  |
