| Visit 'sparkling' Split on Croatia sailing holidays |
| Tuesday, 15 September 2009 09:52 |
Travellers considering Croatia sailing holidays and other trips along the Adriatic coast over the coming months have been
urged to pay a visit to Split.Writing for the Independent, John Calder described the historic city as "a heady mix of Roman grandeur and sophisticated seafront metropolis". Split is at its "sparkling best" during the autumn period, according to Mr Calder, when it is less crowded than in the summer but remains warm and sunny. Travellers who decide to visit the destination during their Croatia sailing holidays were encouraged to head to the harbour, which offers excellent views encompassing the facade of Diocletian's Palace and the port. The travel writer also recommended a visit to Trattoria Bajamont, which specialises in fresh fish and Dalmatian wine and is close to a number of attractions, including the Temple of Jupiter. Split serves as the starting and finishing point of a Croatia sailing holiday route that includes stops in Makarska, Dubrovnik and Korcula. Journeys will set off from the city every Saturday up to October 10th. ![]() |
