Split, a popular destination for travellers to visit during Adriatic cruises, is home to an attraction that is
often missed by many people, according to Secret Dalmatia. An article on the website reveals that the Croatian Maritime Museum is frequently overlooked as visitors head straight to more famous sites such as Diocletian's Palace, the Riva and the old town museums. However, people who take the time to visit the attraction during Croatia sailing holidays can see some fascinating exhibits. One of the most impressive artefacts at the museum, according to the Secret Dalmatia article, is a Roman 'pithos' - a large storage jar - that was found in shallow water in Kastela just a few years ago. Other display items worth seeing include models of ships, preserved tools, nautical equipment and what is thought to be the world'soldest torpedo. Travellers who visit Split during Croatia sailing holidays will find the Maritime Museum on the hill of Gripe, about ten minutes' walk from the Peristil. ![]() |
