| Friday, 16 October 2009 10:23 |
People who visit the island of Vis during their Croatia sailing holidays have been encouraged to try the
local food.According to the Guardian, Vis has "carved out a modest niche with its traditional cuisine". Journalist Lucija Stocevic writes that the island's restaurants, which are sometimes simply "a few tables in somebody's house", serve up "simple but delicious fare". Travellers who stop off in Vis during Croatia sailing holidays will be able to try a variety of simple, high-quality dishes that are often based on staple ingredients such as blue fish and garden vegetables. Salted sardines, marinated fish and stews are among the most popular and common dishes, which often gain their flavour from the methodology used to prepare them rather than the ingredients, according to Ms Stocevic. The journalist writes that it is the "time, effort and pride of the islanders that goes into the tending of the crops and the preparation of the food that makes it so special". Travellers can visit Vis during a Croatia sailing holiday that sets off from Split and stops in destinations including Korcula, Lastovo and Solta. ![]() |
