| Medieval tombs to become tourist attractions |

 Medieval tombs located across Croatia and other countries in eastern Europe could be reasons for tourists to be attracted to
enjoy a sailing holiday on the Adriatic coast. Bozo Biskupic, Croatia's culture minister, is looking to persuade the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to include them on the list of world heritage sites, the Croatian Times reported. This is something which may enhance their appeal to history fans enjoying Croatian holidays. The medieval tombs, also known as stecaks, have been taken from across Croatian coast and inland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro Croatia's capital Zagreb hosted an exhibition of the tomb monuments, which can weigh up to three tonnes each, last year. It focussed on how the stecaks were made, decorations and art work. The Croatian city of Dubrovnik was added to the UNESCO list of world heritage sites in 1979. It has a number of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monasteries, churches and palaces which culture fans could find appealing while on a Croatian sailing holiday.  |
