 Croatia holidays are proving a popular option among British consumers planning to head overseas this year, according to
figures released by a comparison site.Cheapflights UK said that eastern Europe is "travel's new black", with searches for flights to the region increasing by 52 per cent compared to last year. Dubrovnik, a popular starting point for Croatia sailing holidays, was found to be the top destination in the region, with searches for the city rising by 106 per cent this year. Nadine Hallak, a spokesperson for Cheapflights UK, said Brits are heading to eastern Europe 'en masse'. She added: "Our viewer searches show a massive increase in interest for the region and it's clear why. "Last year showed a recessional shift toward long- and mid-haul destinations, and as the economic downturn continuesto linger, travellers are casting their nets a bit closer to home where the offering in price is similar to that of mid-haul and the attractions are broad and endless." Travellers can fly to Dubrovnik to set off on a Croatia sailing holiday that features stops in Korcula, Hvar and other destinations.  |
