| Thursday, 06 May 2010 10:28 |
Tourists planning Croatia holidays will be able to visit a picturesque town where scenes for the UK televisions
series Dr Who were filmed.According to the Telegraph newspaper, Trogir on the Croatian coast was the backdrop for two episodes filmed in December last year. The first will be broadcast this weekend and will see the historical settlement double as Venice. Guest star Helen McCrory explained that Trogir was under Venetian rule for many years, so many of the buildings have Italian influences. "The chapel that we filmed in was absolutely the period that most of Venice was built," she explained. "The architecture here is stunning - people come from all round the world to see it." In the second episode, which will be shown in four weeks' time, Trogir will be presented as 19th century France. The town is situated close to the popular tourist resort of Split, so those basing their Croatia holidays here could take a day trip to Trogir to see the sights. ![]() |
