Travellers on a Croatia holiday may be keen to hike, after seeing the country's "steep coasts".Those on a Croatia sailing holiday have the ideal opportunity to see its immense coastline and explore over 1,000 uninhabited islands. Combining hiking and sailing could be the perfect way to relax after getting active. According to Deutsche Press Agentur (DPA), hiking is becoming increasingly popular with holiday makers in the region. Karst stone mountains in the region rise to over 1,700 metres altitude, which makes them suitable for the fit, healthy and adventurous. One of the top recommendations by DPA's travel writers includes Nakovana, where intrepid hikers can see the main islands Korcula, Hvar and Brac and get a stunning view of the Biokovo Mountains near Makarska. For those who are very experienced hikers, the Biokovo Mountains may be an irresistible draw. The range is approximately 30 kilometres long, but the view down to Makarska is "breathtaking". Croatia holiday makers who want a more relaxing vacation will still be able to get lots of stunning views on smaller treks, especially if they go on a sailing holiday to explore the smaller mountains. ![]() |
