Croatia holidays look set to remain a popular and easily accessible option in the coming years following an expression
of support for the tourism industry from the country's prime minister. The UN World Tourism Organisation's secretary-general Taleb Rifai recently visited Croatia for a meeting with prime minister Jadranka Kosor and tourism minister Damir Bajs. During a discussion on the development of the industry, Ms Kosor highlighted the sector's "crucial role" in economic growth and development. Croatia holidays have continued to prove popular despite the global economic crisis, with some 9.3 million international visitors in 2009 and tourism receipts of €6.4 billion (£5.3 billion). Mr Rifai praised the government for continually supporting the industry and turning Croatia into "one of the Mediterranean's leading destinations". Travellers can see the best that the nation has to offer by arranging an Adriatic cruise and visit beautiful islands such as Hvar and Korcula, as well as the famous cities of Split and Dubrovnik. ![]() |
