Croatia Big Break Itinerary

Under 39s Route Under 39s Route
DAY 1 | Start

Split is well-known for the fortresslike complex at its center, Diocletian's Palace, erected by the Roman emperor in the 4th century. Once home to thousands, its sprawling remains include more than 200 buildings. Within its white stone walls and under its courtyards and galleries are bars, shops, cafes, cathedrals, hotels and several houses.

Check-in at Split Port between 10.30am and 12.00pm. Your ship will depart the harbour at 1pm, kicking off your 3 day island hopping adventure!

DAY 1 | Overnight Stay

Leaving Split behind, we'll have lunch onboard before stopping for a swim at one of the secluded bays en route to the Makarska Riviera.

Makarska nestles under the massive peaks of the Biokovo mountain range, with Mt Jure being the highest seaside peak on the Mediterranean.

Nights in Makarska are reserved for pirates and sailors! Get ready for drinks onboard with your shipmates before heading out on the town!

Our top recommendation: head to the infamous club "Deep", a natural cave next to the sea which rocks full of pirates and sailors into the wee hours!

Optional Excursions

DAY 2 | Overnight Stay

Shake off your Makarska induced hangover with breakfast onboard as we sail to one of Croatia’s largest islands; Hvar! After lunch onboard, you’ll have the option to visit the UNESCO protected World Heritage site of Stari Grad, where you can explore a local farm and experience Croatian wine at its best on the optional Wine Tasting excursion.

This afternoon we’ll stop for a swim at a secluded bay just outside Hvar Town, before exploring this incredible destination. Hvar Town is well known for its super-yachts, celebrity status and epic nightlife, which includes the likes of Hula Hula Bar, Carpe Diem and Nautica Bar. If you’re ready to party until dawn, you've come to the right place!

Please Note: The docking time in Hvar Town can be early evening in peak season due to port authority restrictions. However, to arrive earlier, a water taxi transfer can be arranged for 3 Euros per person (payable locally)

Optional Excursions

DAY 3 | Overnight Stay

From Hvar, we make our way back to Split, stopping for a swim and onboard lunch at one of the secluded coastal beaches along the way.

Your ship will dock in Split in the afternoon, allowing you the early evening to explore this beautiful city and it's UNESCO protected Diocletian's Palace, complete with Roman architecture dating back to the 4th Century!

Tonight we'll have a final family dinner, before heading to Bar Paradiso for farewell cocktails.

Optional Excursions

This morning it's time for an early onboard breakfast, before saying goodbye to the crew and all of your new friends

Please Note: It is possible for you to leave the ship as early as needed on day 4 to catch flights, as all ships will stay in Split on the evening of Day 3.

What Health and Safety Measures Will be In Place in Light of COVID-19?

Sail Croatia takes the health and safety of our guests and staff seriously and as such we will be implementing measures onboard our ships to limit and prevent the spread of the virus. In line with Government guidelines, our staff members have been trained to adhere to strict Health and Safety procedures and policies until measures can be relaxed.

Upon advice from the Croatian Institute for Public Health, please expect the following measures to be in place throughout your cruise:

  • Check-in will be conducted outdoors in a specially designated area
  • All ships will be thoroughly cleaned daily, as well a final disinfection process occurring prior to guest arrival
  • Staff will wear appropriate PPE when working around our ships and guests. This may include masks whenever inside social distancing guidelines and gloves whenever touching surfaces
  • Hand sanitizer will be available on all ships and is required to be used whenever boarding
  • Social distancing measures will be in place in accordance with government guidelines
  • There will be spaced seating for meal services and longer service of meals

Due to the unique nature of the space on each ship, risk assessments will be conducted that are specific to each layout and additional measures may be implemented onboard to cater for each space.

Whilst we will endeavor to do our very best to reduce the spread of COVID-19, please recognise that there is a clear risk of the spread of the disease whilst on holiday. Our aim is to keep our guests safe and Croatia free of the spread of the virus. We kindly ask for your support throughout this process. Our measures will continue to be updated in line with best practices and Government guidelines. If you have any questions, a member of our Sales Team will be able to assist you.

What is the Croatia Big Break?

The Croatia Big Break is a 3 day party cruise for 18-39 year old like-minded travellers. This special cruise takes in the best destinations and nightlife Croatia has to offer!

What time do cruises start/finish?

All ships depart on either Thursday or Sunday at 13:00. Check-in is between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Ships return to Split port on day 3, with check-out commencing between 8am and 9am on day 4.

What are the cabin arrangements?

The cabins are based on 2 sharing, and consist of twin beds, bunk beds or one double bed. If you’d prefer a certain cabin type, it is important you let us know this upon booking, so we are aware and will note your request. Our ship allocation is finalised a week before departure, so we are unable to 100% guarantee a twin bed or double bed cabin. This is due to the fact that each of our ships have completely unique cabin configurations (and therefore always consist of a different number of twin and double cabins available onboard). We will do our best to accommodate requests on a first requested, first served basis.

On some ships, we also have triple cabins available. Triple cabins consist of a double bed and a single bunk. If you would like to book a triple cabin please let us know and we can check availability when you enquire. We don’t automatically allocate these to odd numbered groups as they are about the same size as our 2 person cabins.

What's the difference between Above Deck and Lower Deck cabins?

Above Deck cabins are on the Main Deck of the ship or just above it. Lower Deck cabins are in the hull of the ship. There are pros and cons to both - Lower Deck cabins are often cooler and quieter at night, as you do not have other travellers walking past your cabin as much as the Above Deck cabins. Above Deck cabins offer more natural light and ventilation and most open out onto the sea. Each ship is unique and therefore the layout varies from ship to ship.

Please note: On some of the boats the above deck cabins are located on 2 levels, i.e. on the main deck and on an upper deck.

Which ship type would suit me?

We have 2 ship types available on the Croatia Big Break cruise; Standard and Ensuite. Standard ships are the cheapest option and have shared bathroom facilities, whereas Ensuite ship cabins have their own toilet and shower.

How many bathrooms and toilets are there on Standard ships?

On average there are 4 or 5 toilets/showers on the Standard boats. The ratio is around 1 toilet/shower to every 5-6 travellers.

How do you allocate solo and odd numbered travellers?

For those that are in odd numbered groups, or travelling solo, you will share your cabin with another like-minded traveller of the same sex. If you'd prefer to have a cabin to yourself, there is a single supplement available (an additional 50% of the per person price), that can be added to your booking.

What food is included?

Breakfast and a 3-course lunch are included daily on all cruises. Dinner is not included, as we encourage our clients to explore the local towns in the evening, experiencing local food and wine! Of course we can offer suggestions on the best places to go! Breakfast onboard Standard and Ensuite ships is continental style and includes bread and spreads. You can pay an English breakfast supplement of 40 Euros/week if you would prefer a cooked breakfast daily (payable onboard).

Can I bring food and drink onboard?

You cannot bring food and drink onboard the ship, except for items that fill specific dietary requirements. Each boat has its own bar and drinks consumed onboard (including bottled water) must be purchased from here. You have unlimited access to the onboard water cooler during the salon opening times. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle with you onboard, and filling this up before the salon closes for the evening.

How do I buy drinks onboard?

All drinks, and optional onboard dinners will be added to your bar tab. Bar tabs are recorded throughout the week and are payable in cash (Croatian Kuna) at the end of your cruise.

Are there any local payments that I need to be aware of?

A local payment of 30 Euros per person is payable onboard your Sail Croatia Cruise. This payment incorporates port fees and tourist taxes throughout the week and is subject to change.

What type of luggage should I bring?

If you’re joining us from within Europe, we highly recommend limiting your luggage to one suitcase; however, we understand that this might not be possible for international travellers who are flying in just for the cruise, or on extended trips. Unless you’re booked on a Premier or Premier Plus Ship, your Ensuite or Standard Ship’s cabin won’t be overly large as these are traditional Croatian Ships and storage is limited. In most cabins, you will be able to store bags under the bed; however, in the case of excess luggage, please ask check-in staff to give you additional information about possible storage.
