DAY 1 | Start

The adventure begins! Meet your host, skipper and fellow travellers in Split at 2pm and set sail into the crisp, blue waters of the Adriatic.

Brac
DAY 1 | Overnight Stay

Day 1 will get you comfortable with sailing as we head out into our opening day regatta. We’ll head straight for the island of Brac, where you can enjoy an evening swim in a secluded natural bay.

Jump on a coach and head deep into the island to a remote village of only 80 people. This historical village is new to recent innovations. Immerse yourself in the local culture as your skipper takes you grappa and olive oil tasting, drink locally made wine and eat some of the best lamb in Dalmatia.

Makarska
DAY 2 | Overnight Stay

We make our way down the coastline to the breath taking town of Makarska, enjoying some beautiful swim stops along the way. Makarska nestles under the massive peaks of the Biokovo mountain range with Mt Jure the highest seaside peak in the Mediterranean. For nightlife options, there is the cocktail bar Marineta and for late night takers there is the infamous club "Deep" a natural cave next to the sea and tonight we join our brothers and sisters from Sail Croatia for the infamous ‘Pirate Party’ in the cave!

Surrounded by two of the largest mountains on the island, St Nikola and East Hum, this sets the perfect backdrop for a picturesque Croatian experience. Jelsa normally hosts our Brugal Raft-up party sponsored by our partners Brugal Rum. Just picture a small bay, yachts rafted up, swimming and having fun on a sunny afternoon with a few ice cold drinks. Later you have the option to visit the UNESCO protected world heritage site of Stari Grad where you can visit a local farm and winery and experience Croatian wine at its best!

Optional Extra:

  • Stari Grad Wine Tasting

We set sail around the other side of Hvar island today to visit Hvar Town, where we will stay in the small area of Palmizana. We had a week we will never forget. We were lucky enough to have an outstanding guide on board our yacht and she provided plenty of entertainment and banter! Our skipper had a great personality, had great knowledge of Croatia and was a great skipper. Everyone on our yacht got along well which is always a positive.

FAQ

When does the trip start and finish?

Check in is from 2pm in ACI Split Marina. Departures are every Wednesday. The tour ends in ACI Split Marina. We ask all our passengers to disembark by 8:30am to allow us time to clean the yacht before the next departure. Detailed directions to the marina will be emailed to you when you book your tour.

How is a Croatia Yacht Tour different than your cruises?

You will be sailing on an 8 berth yacht rather than on a large motor cruiser. As you will be travelling with a smaller group, you will get more experience sailing and have more flexibility with the itinerary. You can bring your own food and drink onboard.

Is there a security deposit required?

Yes a security deposit is required when you check-in for your yacht. This is a hold on your credit card and is released after the yacht is returned, so long as no incidents occurred.

Will I get to sail?

Yes! This is one of our favourite things about Croatia Yacht Tour. Whilst your skipper will be sailing most of the time, from time to time, the skipper may ask you to help out – sailing fourteen metres of yacht by yourself isn’t easy – but for the most part you’ll enjoy the sound of the wind in the sails as you lay on the ship’s deck during the day. Of course, we don’t have control over the wind, so on days when the weather conditions aren't ripe for sailing, we’ll use our motor to make our way down the coast.

What is the food and drink situation?

Food and drink is not included (except Breakfast). Each yacht is equipped with a kitchenette including gas stove, oven and kettle. You will need to bring your own food and drink prior to boarding the yacht. There is a small grocery store at ACI Marina in Split. This way you can pick out exactly the food you'll prefer for lunch at sea.
In the evenings you'll have a wide variety of restaurant options. Croatia has delicious, locally-grown food, and your skippers and tour managers will be happy to recommend the perfect restaurant for your group.

What currency should I bring?

Even though Croatia joined the European Union in July 2013, their currency is still the Croatian Kuna. The best way to get Kunas is to withdraw directly from an ATM (available in most large towns, Split Airport and Split Marina).

What are the yachts like?

The best way to imagine our yachts is like a cosy campervan on the water: Four sleeping rooms, two bathrooms, one common room with kitchen supplies and a whole deck above you to relax under the sun. Our prices are based on twin share cabins. The yachts contain double and twin cabins. We will always aim to put friends who book together in the same cabin.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Our yachts feature mostly double cabins with some twin cabins (bunks). Double cabins feature two single mattresses side-by-side. We reserve our twin cabins for solo travellers, while groups of friends sleep in double cabins. Some of our guests take the opportunity to sleep under the stars, falling asleep to the cool breeze from the Adriatic.

Will I get free time?

Absolutely! When we arrive at our destination each afternoon, you are free to explore the shore. Our knowledgeable staff will be able to direct you to the best places to eat, drink or shop – but what you do with your evenings is up to you.

If you’re looking for a party, we’re happy to oblige. At the start of your week you’ll get a wristband that will entitle you to exclusive offers like free entry to nightclubs, drink specials and discounts at restaurants throughout the trip.

What kind of people will be in my group?

Croatia Yachting is aimed at the 18 to 35 year old age range. We find most of our clients are a mix of couples, groups and solo travellers.. Most are from English-speaking countries, although in past years we’ve welcomed passengers from Brazil, Spain, Malaysia, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Lithuania. While ages and backgrounds differ, we find most of our clients are young-at-heart travellers with who are looking for a unique way to experience the Adriatic.

Can I book the whole yacht?

Absolutely. If you book a trip with eight people, you'll automatically be put on the same yacht. If you have fewer than eight people, you'll still be together along with other like-minded travellers. If your group is larger than eight we can divide you amongst a few of our yachts in whatever allocation you chose. Our yachts sail side-by-side during the trip, so even if your large group is spread across multiple boats, you will be able to see your friends regularly during swim stops, regattas, excursions and nights out.

Are bed linen and towels included?

Yes they are, however the towels are for indoor/shower use only – you’ll need to bring your own beach towel for outdoors.

What kind of luggage can I bring?

While you’re welcome to bring whatever kind of luggage you like, we recommend bringing a soft-sided bag such as a backpack, rucksack or duffel bag. Soft-style bags can be stowed away under the floorboards, giving you more room during the week.
