very disappointed

overall the experience wasn’t the best, our tour manager was extremely unorganised, didn’t know little bits of information such as where we were docking or roughly when it would dock, couldn’t tell us if we had swim spots for the next day. We missed some of our spots we were suppose to dock into and lots of things were left out. We also had to pay extra fees such as bus trips etc even if it wasn’t our choice to stay in a port further away from town, in my opinion that should be covered by sail as that’s something we didn’t ask for. Overall wouldn’t recommend but highly depends on the crew you’ve got on your boat.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding communication from your Onboard Representative. Our itineraries are designed to offer a balance of destinations and swim stops, although these can be subject to change due to factors such as weather conditions and port availability. We appreciate that clear communication around these changes is important and are sorry if this fell short during your trip. Regarding the additional transport costs, certain optional transfers and excursions are not included in the cruise price, as outlined in our trip information. We appreciate your comments and will share your feedback with the relevant team as part of our ongoing review of the guest experience.

Navigator

We booked this sailing trip for the first week of September, paying £779, and overall I’d say it was a good trip for the price — but there are definitely some things I wish I’d known before booking. Arrival & accommodation We arrived and were greeted by a lovely host who showed us to our rooms below deck. This is probably the biggest thing I would flag for anyone booking. The rooms are very small, and the pictures online don’t really give you an idea of just how small they are. We were sharing a room with bunk beds, and there was no overhead space, so you couldn’t actually sit upright in the bed. We had read online that there was space underneath the beds for luggage, so we travelled with a suitcase expecting it to fit underneath. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough space. I spoke to the staff and initially felt that it was a bit of a “this is what it is” situation, but our tour host was very accommodating and offered us another room to use for our luggage. We were extremely grateful for this. In the end, I actually just stayed in the other room, which made more sense, and this wasn’t a problem. The rooms are also very dated and could definitely do with some TLC. The beds weren’t particularly comfortable either, and I wouldn’t describe the accommodation as luxurious in any way. That said, we managed and spent very little time in the room because we were out enjoying the destinations. Another issue was towels. The packing list we received said towels would be provided and that we didn’t need to bring our own. Once onboard, we discovered that standard ships apparently don’t provide them, according to the website. This was conflicting information and obviously too late to resolve once we were already there. Again, the host was very accommodating and provided us with bath towels, which we really appreciated. The sailing & destinations After lunch and the initial briefing, we headed off to explore our first destination. The recommendations from the host about where to go, what to see and where to eat were really helpful. The actual sailing experience was fantastic. The swim stops were a real highlight, and stopping at different places gave us plenty of opportunities to explore and experience as much as possible. We had enough time in each destination to do our own thing, which we really enjoyed. One thing to be aware of is that the engine is noisy. On our first morning, it woke me at around 6am. I went looking for a coffee, only to discover that coffee wasn’t available until breakfast at 8:30am. Again, the staff were very kind and made me one, but it’s worth knowing if you’re an early riser! We didn’t take part in the group dinners or organised activities because we preferred to explore independently and partying wasn’t really our priority. This wasn’t an issue at all. The host was very accommodating and happy to give us recommendations and information about each destination. One of the original stops was changed because of personal circumstances affecting the captain. The replacement destination was lovely, but it’s worth knowing that the itinerary isn’t necessarily set in stone, so don’t get too attached to the places shown when booking. Food The food was another positive. I wouldn’t say the food we received looked quite like the pictures on the website, but it was still really enjoyable and delicious. Breakfast had a good variety — cereals, yoghurt, fruit, meats, cheeses and eggs prepared differently each day. Lunch was three courses and could include things like crisps and dips, wraps, a really tasty carbonara, followed by cake, ice cream or another baked dessert. There was plenty of choice and we were never left hungry. The staff The staff were lovely throughout the trip — friendly, chatty, helpful and very accommodating. Nothing seemed too much trouble when we had questions or needed something. Our particular trip was relatively quiet, with around 15 people onboard, and we were told previous trips had been much livelier. Personally, I think we were lucky with the smaller group. The boat can apparently sleep up to 32 people, but I honestly can’t imagine 32 people being particularly comfortable in the available space. With 15, it felt like enough. The tipping experience The one thing that really left a sour taste for me was the tipping at the end of the trip. We were reminded several times throughout the holiday about tipping, including through the WhatsApp group, and were told that envelopes would be available for tips for the tour guide and boat staff. The suggested amounts were also mentioned. The day before leaving, we had to settle our bar bill between 2–3pm, as well as pay the €40 tax that had to be added. When I went into the dining area to pay, there were two very visible tip boxes showing how much money was being put into them. While I was paying my bar bill, the lady then pointed out the tip boxes and asked about the tips directly. For me, this felt quite pressured and awkward, particularly with several members of staff also in the dining room at the time. I completely understand that tipping is an important part of the industry and that staff work hard, but having it repeatedly mentioned throughout the trip and then being asked directly, with the tip boxes in front of you, made me feel uncomfortable. I came away feeling a little disappointed that this was how the trip ended. I would much rather have felt that tipping was completely voluntary and left to the individual’s discretion without the repeated reminders and direct approach. Overall Giving this trip a star rating is actually quite difficult because the different parts of the experience vary so much. The boat itself would be around 3/5 — it is very dated, the cabins are extremely small and it definitely needs some renovation. The staff were 4/5 — genuinely lovely, helpful and accommodating. The food was 4/5 — good variety and enjoyable meals. But the destinations and sailing experience were the real reason this trip was worth it. Being able to sail between different places, swim in beautiful spots and have plenty of time to explore made the holiday. For £779 in the first week of September, I think overall we got good value for money. You definitely get what you pay for, though, and I would recommend going into it knowing that this is not a luxury sailing experience. The boat is basic and dated, the cabins are tiny, and there are a few things where the information provided before booking could be clearer. If you’re looking for a more affordable sailing adventure, are happy to compromise on accommodation and want to prioritise seeing different places, then I think it’s a great option. Just go prepared for the small cabins, bring your expectations down regarding the boat, and enjoy the destinations — because that’s where this trip really shines.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the sailing experience and destinations, and particularly appreciate your 4 star ratings for both our staff and the food onboard. We also appreciate your 3 star rating and feedback regarding the ship itself. As you mentioned, this is not a luxury sailing experience; your booking was on one of our Standard category ships, which is the most budget-friendly option within our Navigator cruises and offers more basic accommodation and amenities. Showering towels are not included within this category, as outlined in our Pre-Departure Information. For guests looking for a higher level of comfort, we offer ship categories with higher-quality amenities and additional inclusions, at a higher price point - such as the Ensuite and Premier ships. We’re pleased that overall you felt the trip represented good value for money and that the destinations and sailing experience were the real highlights of your week. Thank you again for travelling with us!

Below expectations especially for price

As a solo traveller I was disappointed that there was absolutely zero effort by our tour manager to develop any connection between the group, not even an introduction of everyone’s names which I would have thought would be basic. There were only 4 solo travellers out of 35 on board and this lack of effort directly impacted the quality of socialising on board. Additional to this the quality of the boat was definitely not up to standard. I booked the premier navigator and yet our boat arrived with a broken bell, multiple broken sun lounges and the shower in my room was completely snapped off. The sailing through Croatia part was definitely a highlight however the actual experience provided by Sail Croatia was well below expectations. I would book with another company in future.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We’re pleased to hear that sailing through Croatia was a highlight of your trip, and we also appreciate your positive ratings for our crew and meals onboard, which you rated 4 and 5 stars in our internal feedback. Our Navigator cruises are designed as social experiences, with a shared atmosphere and opportunities for guests to meet and socialise throughout the week. While our Guide does their best to bring the group together and encourage interaction, the social experience also naturally depends on individuals being open to meeting and engaging with one another. That said, we do take your comments onboard and will continue to review ways we can encourage interaction within the group, including different ice-breakers and introductions at the beginning of the cruise. We have also reviewed the feedback received from other guests on this departure, including from fellow solo travellers, and were pleased to see that the departure was highly rated overall. We’re therefore sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect the same positive experience shared by many of your fellow guests. We’re glad you enjoyed the Croatian sailing experience and appreciate you sharing your feedback with us.

…

Average The biat was not like advertised and had many issues My too bunk was not working so we had to share a double bed, the bathroom had lots of plumbing issues including smell coming from taps and brown water leaks in bedrooms. We didnt even get to go to hvar wich was one of the main stops and instead didnt dock and anchored in the ocean for the whole day and no one was allowed to get off and no solution was made.

Thank you for taking the time to review us and share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. After reviewing our internal reports, we were unable to find any record of concerns regarding a leak or any plumbing issues in your cabin. As outlined in our pre-departure information, we have a clear onboard reporting process to ensure that any issues can be addressed as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, as these concerns were not reported to your Onboard Representative during the trip, our team was not given the opportunity to investigate or resolve them while you were onboard. Our Captains work hard to provide the best possible experience based on weather and port conditions and at times, the itinerary and port locations may need to change during the week as advertised. Upon checking with our Operations team, we were pleased that even though due to port availability you were docked in Stari Grad, a bus transfer to Hvar Town was organised giving everyone free time to explore Hvar Town. We do appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback, as it helps us continue to review and improve our services.

Horrible

Sail Croatia was the worst experience. Our top deck was closed the whole week so there wasn’t enough chairs for people to tan during the day. My food had hair in it almost everyday and my room leaked and my whole bag with all my clothing got wet.

A Real Review

It was a great week, great people and lots of fun! Many additional costs in the week for excursions, dinners etc that makes the trip cost a lot more than you realise. The trip leader was great but sometimes felt a little salesy and not genuinely caring. He offhanded a lot of organisation to participants who had to initiate activities to bring people together. Sometimes noone knew what was going on because plans weren't communicated. Would have liked more collabs with other boats at parties; the crowd was mainly our boat and other people at the club were a bit odd, especially some older Croatian men. At the Cave Club, people were getting preyed on and this club already had a known reputation for dodgy stuff, but noone informed us until it happened. Food was quite good. Each island had much to offer and explore, and the people on the boat were a lot of fun. Overall, a solid week and a unique experience - daily swims, lots of laughs, making friends - but may not do again in hindsight.

For people younger than me...

36F and definitely felt too old for the Navigator Cruise (everyone else was 30 or less which I think is the correct age to enjoy the experience). I also felt the cabins were very basic - again I'm probably too old, but it was more basic than the backpacker cruise I'd taken in Australia the previous year and due to the marketing I was expecting something a little more comfortable so it felt like a let down. It was also dissapointing to only be given Instant Coffee at breakfast. It would have also been nice to have information regarding the expected amount of the tips given prior to booking given they were >10% of the cost of the tour. On the upside, the Tour Manager was amazing and went out of his way to make sure I had a good trip. The crew was super kind and the ship was always clean. I'd give the Tour Manager and Crew 6/5 if I could! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the trip to someone younger but for me personally, the experience was just OK.

Hi there, thank you for your review. We’re really pleased to hear that you found the Tour Manager and crew exceptional, and that the ship was always clean and well cared for – we’ll be sure to pass your kind words on. As per our website, Navigator Cruises are our most popular party cruises for independent, like-minded travellers between the ages of 18 and 39. The product is available on 3 types of ships - Premier, Ensuite and Standard. I can see you were accommodated in one of our Standard cabins. Standard ships are a great option if you want excellent value for money and don't mind compact cabins or shared showers and toilets. For a more varied age demographic and a wider range of experiences, we would suggest our Explorer Cruise, which typically appeals to those aged 20's - 60's, however is open to all ages over 15+ and offers a variety of ship types to suit different budgets and comfort preferences - all Explorer ships include ensuite and air-conditioning. Tipping is always optional, with guidance provided in your pre-departure document, as we aim to be fully transparent about costs. Despite your personal disappointment, we’re pleased to hear you would still recommend the trip and hope to welcome you on one of cruises in the future!

Sail croatia

I enjoyed the week, our leader Vin was very good. I thought there were a lot of hidden costs not very transparent when booking the trip, we had way more inclusions with our last tour we attended with a different company and felt we got more moneys worth with them. Also disappointing that we missed out on two stops due to weather which is understandable however when other sail Croatia ships still go despite what we are being told it does raise some questions. The last day in particular we docked into Dubrovnik port a day early due to weather conditions and then missed out on our swim stop the next day as port authorities wouldn’t let our boat leave? We then found out other sail Croatia boats left for there swim stop which didn’t make much sense, the crew weren’t very transparent with us on the why. The whole last day of our trip was spent docked up, we were told we could go to the beach but then we had to pay 20€ for an uber to get there, frustrating when you pay money to be on a boat.

Didn’t declare my stay

Actual boat was a lot of fun but ended up with a 50 euro fine on the way out of Croatia because my stay on the boat wasn’t declared in the different places

It was okay

It really depends on the group & crew that makes the trip. The bartender on the boat wasn't the most pleasant and the chef was horrible. I knew going on the boat that the food was not going to be the best but it was horrible. Also, I didn't like how we didn't have to much free time and the swim spots were okay, nothing great either. Overall, the trip was okay.

29 females and 1 male

Sail Croatia really let me down with my experience by not mixing the people on our boat. Out of 30 people there were 29 women (13 of which were one big group that were not very interested in socialising outside of their group) the one male was a partner of the only couple on the boat. I believe variety in people would have most definitely improved everyone's experience. While our tour manager was absolutely lovely and kind I was disappointed with their lack of knowledge of Croatia in general. Unfortunately their inexperience showed when they struggled to comand respect and order when addressing the group. This showed when organising activities or even getting people excited meet up to learn about our beautiful scenic stops. The crew onboard were so lovely and accommodating. The food was great. After stopping at a few ports and seeing the variety in types of Sail Croatia Boats I was also disappointed that when booking I was not given options to upgrade to a boat with better facilities.

Not enough time to explore the islands

I would’ve liked more opportunity on land to explore the islands, especially when we were docked at a port that was not in the town. Or the opportunity to get a water taxi in to explore i.e. Stari Grad.

0/10 anaphylactics beware! Victim blaming and no accountability

You don’t have enough characters to accurately describe my disappointment. My partner has a deadly allergy to peanuts and this was not taken seriously by the crew or comply. Was served a meal with peanuts in it and after only a small bite had an immediate reaction. Upon medicating herself other guest sort her out to ask her if her if she had eaten the meal since they could taste and see peanut chunks. The chef lied and said no nuts only to confirm to myself and another guest that the stuff that was in peanut was in the meal but he “only put a little bit in” so thought it would be okay. After being informed my partner could have died then changed his story again to say there was no nuts. This company did not follow any precautions to make sure the safety of my girlfriend’s life and then has gone on to say she is at fault and can not blame them since she didn’t need the hospital. We had an ED nurse on board and multiple epipens so we were able to assess and monitor the situation ourselfs

Hi CJ, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We cater to many dietary requests on our cruises, and I can confirm that the crew onboard your ship were aware of your partner's nut allergy. While we take every precaution to reduce the likelihood of cross-contamination, due to the nature of the small kitchens onboard our ships, we cannot guarantee a completely nut-free environment. As outlined in our terms and conditions, all special requests must be advised in writing at the time of booking. We received your request the day before departure. Although we strive to pass on any reasonable requests to the relevant supplier, we cannot guarantee that every request will be met unless specifically confirmed. It is essential to obtain written confirmation that a special request will be complied with, especially where it is crucial for your safety. We have been in contact with the appropriate parties, including the Operations Team, Captain, Crew, and the Onboard Representative. We can confirm that peanuts are not a standard ingredient in burritos. Additionally, there were no nuts intentionally added to the meal. While we strive to ensure the safety of our guests, it is standard practice that individuals with severe nut allergies carry their medication with them. We appreciate that your partner had the necessary precautions in place and are relieved to hear there was no allergic reaction. Given that there was no allergic reaction, we regret that we cannot offer a refund for something that could have happened. We appreciate you raising this matter and providing us with feedback, as it is only through feedback like yours that we can continue to improve our services.

Impossible not to love sailing the Adriatic Sea, if you’re willing to spend the money.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves sailing through the open water and swimming in the most beautiful spots. The boat was charming and the cabins (and en-suite) were clean and spacious enough. We went on numerous excursions (top 3 - canyoning, wine tasting and bike ride) but thought most were overpriced (€20-80) and could have gotten cheaper local deals. Additionally, there were a number of unexpected and unavoidable transfers, taxis/buses to pay for (€6-10 each). Meals on board were tasty, except if you were vegetarian (don’t expect any variety). The crew was polite, yet did not engage with us. The owner, Marjan warmly welcomed us on his ship, made the best pina-coladas & was a sniper at beer pong. Our rep Luiis was the friendliest and funniest guide who made sure we enjoyed ourselves every step of the way. He excels at relating to people and trying to meet guest expectations. Would sail with Marijan and Luiis again, but not convinced of the benefit of the Sail Croatia brand.

Where did all my money go towards?

I felt throughout the whole trip I was being asked to pay extra for random aspects such as bus transfers, water ferry’s. I feel like I don’t understand where my almost $2000 went. The crew and guide were amazing but all the hidden extra costs are not explained properly. I feel the initial price should be increased or have a lump sum you can do at the start with card instead of having to try get exact cash for everything. We had a ratio of 19 females to 3 males which is just ridiculous. I feel there should be allocated spots for males and females to have an appropriate dynamic. The people I was with were amazing and did save the trip and I really did enjoy myself but the random hassles all throughout the trip really did not make me want to rebook with sail Croatia again.

Poor communication from company

I had friends who previously did sail Croatia and told me about all these amazing parties and events . When I got on board and asked my host about these she informed me that the Cave Party in Makasaka wasn’t open and wouldn’t be happening (this was one of the reasons I booked with this company) there was no communication from the company prior to our trip to inform us of this. Even though they knew it wasn’t open as it was start of season. There also was no theme night on board the ship which we were under the impression there would be since it is quite commonly posted on social media amongst participants. We didn’t know anything that was happening until the day of which was stressful and made taking money out become a daily task. I do not like the fact that everything had to be in cash and there was all these extra hidden charges on excursions that were not explained before we left! Overall pretty disappointed in the sail Croatia company. Enjoyed my time but wasn’t as much fun.

Sail Croatia Review

I felt like it was almost expected of us to drink every single night, which led to many of us feeling sick and terrible by the end of the week and not actually enjoying the beautiful places we stopped at. I wish there were more non-drinking activities so we could’ve gotten to know everyone better. Sometimes it felt like you couldn’t participate unless you were drinking. Our boat was also definitely one of the cheapest models. If I had a little more detail about what exactly each boat entailed I probably would’ve booked the next level up. That being said, the crew was fantastic and our guide was great.

I can confirm the Standard ship category you booked is the lowest price and usually aimed at guests on a budget, and usually perfect for travellers backpacking across Europe! Thank you so much for joining us in Croatia this summer.

Good experience

Had a good time on sail and enjoyed my time sailing through Croatia. Had a great group on board and an amazing sail crew on the boat. However, we got unlucky with wind and rain while sailing which limited swimming and excursions. Also got unlucky with a tour guide who showed little interest in making it a good time on the boat. He had no sense of fun and poor organisation and communication of daily activities. In my time travelling through Europe being on several short and long tours, he was the most disappointing tour guide I’ve ever had. Overall, I was very thankful to have a great group of other travellers on board who were keen to have fun and make best of an average situation.

Hi Courtney, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to know you enjoyed your time in Croatia with your fellow travellers and amazing crew. The safety and well-being of our customers is important to us, and we understand that weather-related itinerary changes are made at times, which can result in limited swimming time - we do hope you were able to enjoy some of the amazing local beaches during the week. We are disheartened to read your comments regarding your Rep as we pride ourselves on having the best local and experienced Reps that provide helpful information and recommendations to enhance your journey, and we are pleased your rep was rated 4.4 out of 5 stars for your week. We thank you for all your comments and we hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable cruise experience in the future.

Not what we were expecting

Croatia as a country was amazing and beautiful. However, the sail was disappointing. Our representative was not very engaging and for the price you pay, you don’t get a lot for it. Considering you pay prior, the drinks at the bar are expensive and ‘happy hour’ is only 10% off which isn’t worth it. They offered limited water and if you wanted a bottle of water you had to pay. Even when unwell, there is no bottled water that is accessible and you are not able to bring bottles from off the boat. As a couple, we were given two single beds and other groups of friends that requested single beds were in rooms with doubles. Overall, not worth the price you pay and we weren’t very satisfied and actually left the boat early due to being unwell and not being able to access cold water.

Hi Nikita, thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your time in Croatia and its beautiful coastline. However, we are disappointed to learn of your lack of enjoyment onboard. The drinks prices are set per ship and an estimated price list is available for your perusal via our website. The bedding configurations onboard our Navigator cruises are not confirmed until 1 week prior to departure, and these can either be made up of; bunk bed, twin bed or double bed configurations. I can see that a double bed wasn't requested in this instance. In regards to the water cooler, water is available onboard this boat 24/7 from outside the saloon area and you are welcome to re-use your own water bottle. Upon checking our internal reports, I can see that our Onboard representative had tried to make you as comfortable as possible whilst your partner was unwell by bringing tea and water to your cabin, and even offering further medical assistance - we hope that he has made a full recovery.

Aircon bad when we paid for it

Aircon was not working properly and the bedroom fascilities were terrible. No changing of sheets, towels or pillows when we were in a HEAT WAVE and many on board were sick was not good. Whole experience was uncomfortable. Chef also prepared wintery hot meals when we were in a HEAT WAVE. Very disspointed with the experience.

Hi A, thank you for your review. We are disheartened to hear of your experience and we hope that you were able to enjoy other aspects of your cruise. Our Premier ships include a mid-week cabin service which includes rubbish removal, floor and bathroom cleaned and a bed linen change. Additional towels can be provided upon request. All cruises include 3-course lunches which is usually a starter, main and dessert - I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with the meals served, our chefs aim to provide a variety of meals using fresh, local produce and we are pleased to see that the overall feedback rating for the meals served during your week was rated 4.6 out of 5 stars. We understand that there was another group onboard who experienced sickness for less than 24 hours, due to reasons not relating to the cruise. Upon checking our internal reports, there were no reports of issues with the air-conditioning onboard. We have a rigorous process in place for any issues that arise onboard, which is outlined in your pre-departure information. Following this process ensures that no incident is left unreported and gives us the best chance to resolve this during the cruise for you. Again we thank you for your feedback, and we hope you enjoyed your time in Croatia as a whole.

Average

“Tuna” itself was really good, the aircon worked and the chef was fantastic. It was quite spacious for an ensuite boat. A few notes on this trip- the Tour guide was very unenthusiastic from check in on day 1. This was in regards to everything from excursions, to pub crawls. The pub crawls were very unorganised and communication overall could have been better. Restaurants for dinner were very average. Although Excursions were fun, they were well overpriced. The breakfast advertised was a buffet with an assortment of sausages/meat, eggs, pastries, cereal, fruit etc. The breakfast provided was continental style with one type of egg, toast, cereal and fruit, which was a bit of a let down.

We do appreciate your feedback and this will be passed onto our Operations Manager in Split. We do hope to welcome you back on board with us in the future. Thank you!

A lot of room for improvement

Whilst Croatia is absolutely beautiful, prepare yourself for the low quality of the boat and the extremely tiny confines of your room. Our shower, if you could call it that, didn’t even have a holder on the wall, you had to hold it yourself like a tap and shower on top of the toilet. The smell in the bathroom was horrific and with three people crammed in a room hardly fit for one person, it was certainly an experience. The tour leader and crew however were absolutely lovely and made the experience more bareable. If you’re not into budget travelling, sail Croatia is not for you.

cleanliness could be improved

being able to get new clean towels for showering would of been good as the rooms and bathrooms get so disgusting especially since there are no curtains on the showers so water gets everywhere. i didn’t expect the drinks to be as expensive as they were. the crew was great regardless of these factors.

The people make this trip worth it, not the company itself

Im just curious where my $1700AUD actually went. I understand maintenance, docking, wages etc of the ship is probably more than I anticipate. But the rooms were tiny, no space for luggage. Food was atrocious, i didnt bother eating it half the time. It would Not have Been Hard to offer a shower towel, or spare linen. I slept in my own sweat, salt and dirt for 7 days. We also had to pay for all transfers (water taxi, buses etc) even when I saw they were affiliated with Sail Croatia. Don’t get me wrong, I had an amazing week that I will never forget - but it’s the other customers on the boat that have made the trip memorable, not the company Sail Croatia itself. If all 30 people on that boat paid $1700AUD, that is over $50,000 AUD, which you are making every week. And for what? We still had to tip all the staff on the boat After as well because they rely on Tips. Like I said, the people on this trip made it worth it, not the company. Thanks for a fun week, lots to be improved on though

Hi Erica, thank you for taking the time to review your cruise with us this summer. It is wonderful to read you had an amazing week on board and made some friends for life! I am quite disappointed to see some points did not live up to your expectations. Inclusions and any additional costs can be found on the Navigator cruise page, your pre-departure information and the FAQs section on the website to allow guests to budget ahead of time. You joined us on board a Standard ship which is our most budget-friendly option for a Navigator cruise and it is the cheapest price in the market. Our Standard ships offer shared bathroom facilities, so showering towels are not provided. We have our 'ship types' displayed via our website so guests can view images and details about each ship category. This gives in-depth information of the amenities to ensure that our advertising accurately represents the accommodations provided. Our higher category ships such as the Premier and VIP Navigator ships provide more space onboard, ensuite bathrooms and AC, so we highly recommend checking this prior to booking your cabin to avoid disappointment. Thank you again for joining is in Croatia Erica and we would love to welcome you on board again soon.

Sadly not worth the hype anymore

First I want to say the crew was amazing, very helpful and friendly. Also the food was epic. Unfortunately on my ship our rep left after 1 day and we were stranded, the new rep came on and bless her soul she was lovely but not suited to a party boat. The boat I was on as well had one big group of friends who didn't really want to mingle that much with everyone else or actually party much which was annoying. My roommate was also very sick and she got me sick, so I'm angry about that because it's ruined my trip. All the food places we went to were hella expensive and meh, also the clubs were over hyped and too expensive. The drinks on the boat were annoyingly over priced and so we just didn't want to pay those prices to drink a lot. I was recommended this by a friend but unfortunately I will be telling people not to waste their money especially if traveling solo. It was the worst part of my trip so far.

Not what we paid for

Firstly we were one guy one girl FRIENDS only travelling and we booked two single beds. A week before going on the cruise we were told that there were to many solo travellers on the boat so we had to share a double bed. If we knew this could happen before booking then we wouldn't of chosen this cruise. When we got onthe boat we found out that there was only one solo traveller out of the 36 of us..A group of 8 girls all had separate beds and said if they were asked to share then they would of been more than happy too. It made the trip not so pleasant sleeping next to someone of the opposite sex that you are not in a relationship with. Secondly our host/guide or whatever you call him was useless. He was unapproachable, unfriendly, not helpful, grumpy alot of the time and wouldn't cater to everyone. Would say comments like "I'm the guide, you do it my way" All and all I didn't enjoy this and wouldnt recommend it

Our ships can be twin, bunk, or double bed cabins as stated in the FAQS, and also on the Premier Ship page. Feedback is very important to us and I will be sure to pass your comments on to the relevant teams. Thank you for joining us this season in Croatia.

Very poor!!

I feel it is very misleading, you pay a lot of money and don’t even get aircon or a toilet or shower in your room. The food was very average and all the extra cost reallt add up. Sail was one of the things I was most excited for but I was so disappointed with it. The bed situation was disgusting, try sleeping in 38 degree weather without aircon!

Underwhelming experience

The toilet was broken on lower deck which meant we had to constantly walk upstairs. This was inconvenient and not what we were promised for what we paid. We also paid for air conditioning which often turned off, meaning we woke up extremely hot. We wouldn’t have bought it if we had known it would randomly stop working. We didn’t have access to any tissues/toilet paper downstairs which was also frustrating as we had nothing to wipe things up with. When we arrived home from clubs we had been taken to the water was always empty which meant we had to ask other boats for water. When I called our representative he said all the deck crew were asleep and to buy it. This was completely unacceptable as we were meant to be supplied water. On our last night we didn’t get a family dinner or barbecue or cocktail which was on our itinerary. Often weren’t told about happy hour on the boat. It was not worth the amount money we paid.

Slightly disappointed

Same bedding and towels for the entire week. Horrible smell in bathrooms. Tasks appeared to be too difficult for crew members, e.g my friend reached out to staff after collision with a sea urchin and they bluntly suggested to pee on it. They should’ve looked at it, tried to assist, help make a doctors appointment, discuss possible options. Rafting excursion was cancelled, no one was advised. Staff expected a tip despite average service and when being tipped there was no appreciation demonstrated, no ‘thank you’, but a careful eye was watching the amount tipped. Our boat leader didn’t make an effort to hype everyone up, it resulted in a mellow experience unlike what was advertised and expected when travelling with the navigator cruise. The itinerary suggests that there should be a group dinner followed by cocktails on our final night, but after money was collected earlier in the day, all staff were unreachable. No one organised a group dinner and our group felt disassembled.

Lack of information

Our tour guide was not involved in the group at all. He did nothing to combine the different groups and so as a solo traveling it was unenjoyable. I feel as though he did the bare minimum, but didn’t even give adequate information. For example, when we went on the buggies there was a 30 mins break where we could have gone swimming but he didn’t mention this to us. So, the whole group missed out and were extremely hot. He never went out of his way to communicate much at all

Sail Croatia week

The people and staff on boat made my experience one of the best weeks of my life the activity’s were so much fun and the islands and towns we went into were beautiful even the group dinners were amazing but the only let down was the rooms on boat I’m not sure if all rooms were like that but to even class it as a room was ridiculous me and my sister could barely walk into our room before hitting the bunk beds, the so called “on suite” we paid extra for was a shower head over the toilet, it was so gross, the pipe works in the bathroom smelt so bad we tried to create airflow by opening the door but then the aircon we paid 50 euro for would turn off as soon as the door opened we had no space to open our suit cases let alone go climb onto the top bunk. After talking to people on board learning what we paid for a room like that I’m so disappointed. this is sail Croatias fault for false advertising you show the big white boat with so much space but that’s not what we got

Would not recommend.

The advertising for Sail Croatia isn't clear because the Navigator cruise is marketed for ages 18-39 but this blog post from the official website says the cruise is perfect for people under 30: https://www.sail-croatia.com/set-sail/which-ship-type-is-right-for-me-a-navigator-guide Also got food poisoning from the boat so I had to miss an activity I wanted to go to although some activities were overpriced for what they were. For example, the buggying in Korcula cost 60 euros but involved a half an hour break where you just sat around doing nothing. The ziplining involved driving back the way you had just come by boat for 40-60 minutes and then having to wait to be driven all the way back afterwards so it takes up a lot of unnecessary time. Also the bike riding in Mljet is just a bike hire, literally no helmet or anything else so this was expensive for what it was too. On the first day the check in ended up being later (after 12 pm) and we missed the first day swim stop. Refund me.

Was not as advertised

Quite a few things. The boat was disappointing. It looked nothing like the pictures and when we met people from another navigator boat who paid the same price we found out their boat was as advertised where as ours was not. Our boat was the oldest and was falling apart, the day that it rained, water was leaking through lights. Very concerning. Drinks were more expensive than advertised We also missed out on half of the excursions due to unscheduled changes in the itinerary and missed staying at two locations. We were only made aware this would happen because of weather but this was not the case here. The changes were very sudden and not well communicated and as a result we missed half of the excursions. Quite disappointing. We also found that on some excursions we were charged more than if you booked directly with the company. When we are already paying so much it was very disappointing to find out. The swimming, food and Croatia was beautiful, just unfortunate about the rest.

The drinks prices are estimated only, and up to date prices are available onboard. Our internal reports confirm that all guests were made aware of the slight itinerary change, and the boat had visited all destinations outlined on the itinerary, however Mljet was replaced with Korcula due to port restrictions. Like most travel operators, we include our markup in the overall package to provide a convenient and seamless experience for our guests. We hope that these issues didn't detract from your overall enjoyment.

Disappointed and I regret Sailing with Sail Croatia

Overhyped with advertising

The website, advertising and itinerary were super different to the experience I had. There was no pirate party or Rave cave. We were unable to go onto the other sail croatia boats at swim stops or at pres. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with the false advertising of events, we wernt notified that they didn’t exist or wernt even happing until day of! The only good thing on the boat was the food.

Our guide

I had really high expectations going into this trip, as everyone who I’d spoken to around me who’d been on it had said it is one of the best things they have ever done. The first few days were good we didn’t see heaps and didn’t go out to many places as our guides recommendations weren’t great. Then once we got to Dubrovnik it went down hill. Our guide go angry at us for going out to the same club as them, he was miss treating his trainee. Speaking unprofessional and inappropriately to all members of the sail boat, he apologised for his behaviour but then had to apologise a second time in Dubrovnik again for acting in a similar way. I was extremely upset that I had played close to $2000 aud and the person who is meant to be making this trip amazing has not only apologised twice because of his poor behaviour but also given poor recommendations and service. He didn’t even say goodbye on out last day.

Experience varies depending on crew

I had such an amazing time on my sail but that was due to the awesome guests and friends I made rather than the boat crew or our sail Croatia guide- we all got along great and had a ball together. Our guide lacked confidence and knowledge and we were left to sort ourselves out a lot of time- he was so lovely and came out of his shell eventually but only really spoke to us via What’s App for the first few days. We were super disappointed that some of the key things we were keen on, like the Cave Party or Ziplining, weren’t running. The food quality and prices of drinks vary a lot depending on what boat you’re on - ours we’re minimum €5 for watered down drinks whereas other boats had €2 beers. I also paid more than nearly all of the guests yet had one of the smallest rooms with a broken toilet and constant smell coming up through the pipes. I would definitely do it again but was disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm by our guide and the drink prices compared to people on other boats.

Thank you so much for your 3 star review and all your comments. We are so glad you had a great time and pleased to hear you would do it all over again. We would love to welcome you back! We appreciate your constructive feedback regarding our representative and needless to say we don't always get it 100% right. We have in place a robust system for training, monitoring, evaluating performance, and providing mentorship to our representatives, aiming to maintain the highest industry standards. Each ship indeed has its own drinks prices - you can find this information on our website blog on typical Sail Croatia drinks prices. I checked our internal reports to see if we have received any notice of the issues with your cabin and I was unable to find any. It is a shame that you didn't raise the issue whilst onboard with your Representative or our Operations Manager as then this could have been resolved promptly for you. We do appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review.

Navigator cruise food

The food on our boat was horrible. There was very little provided for breakfast (usually just bread with butter) and the included lunch was always extremely disappointing (usually soup with bread and some kind of boiled meat). We were all very hungry and there were no snacks provided during the day- we couldn’t bring our own snacks on board and we didn’t dock until the afternoon so there was no option to get off the boat to buy food. The rest of the tour was amazing and I would definitely do it again.

Sail Croatia afrodita

Poor customer service from day one. Food was uneatable, bar closed during happy hour, staff unapproachable, asked multiple times for toilet paper and clean towels, staff complaints of fatigue, poor engagement to everyone

We hope you enjoyed your time in Croatia as a whole and the issues didn't detract from your overall enjoyment. Thank you

Disappointing and false advertising.

I’m so lucky that I met such an amazing group of people on this sail Croatia because without them I would’ve been very disappointed. The food served on the boat was almost inedible, most people skipped it and ended up buying their own food. The crew on the boat were quite rude and made no effort to remember dietary requirements which almost resulted in some dire situations with multiple members on the boat. The bar on the boat was pretty much always closed which made it difficult at ports where there were no external bars - everyone had a few early night which isn’t exactly what you picture when you sign up for sail Croatia. Although the bar being closed wasn’t all bad as the drinks were so overpriced hardly anyone could afford them. Another issue with the bar being closed is that you’re not allowed to bring any food or drinks onboard - this is inconvenient when you need something to eat or drink and there is no way to purchase anything on board. Thank god I had a good group!

Dietary requirements are passed on to the chef, and we encourage guests to introduce yourselves to the chef and discuss any additional requests with them. The bar is open during the day, generally up until midnight unless instructed by the crew - we appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we will discuss further with our Operations Team to ensure our high levels of service are maintained. Thank you.

Poor organisation

The boat was great and loved Croatia, however the problem was with the organisation and poor communication from staff. There were two trainee guides on board as well and they all clashed with each other. We were promised parties in the middle of the sea with a barbecue when in reality we had an early curfew and this didn’t go ahead at all. Early June was off season for most of the clubs so itinerary was not accurate at all. Swim stops were not communicated so I missed some of them. Croatian staff on board (bartender, captain, cook) were great though.

Hi Issy, Thank you for your 5-star review. We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your time on the boat and had a fabulous time in Croatia. However, we are sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of your cruise. We pride ourselves on having the most knowledgable, friendly and local Representatives. Before the season commences, our Reps go through rigorous training and shadow work, so they are confident prior to their first departure solo. I have checked, and can see that the feedback for the Reps was 4-5 stars. On all our ships we have a midnight curfew which is to ensure those that wish to party on, can do so in the towns - visiting the best local bars and clubs, and those that wish to stay onboard and get an early night, can do so in peace. In early June, most bars and clubs are open to public however, we understand that Covid has caused a slight delay in opening times. Swim stops commence each day and the onboard rep will advise everyone of the daily schedule - I'm sorry to hear you missed some of them. Thank you for your comments on the onboard staff - we will pass this on :-). I'm pleased that overall you enjoyed your time on the boat and in Croatia as a whole.

Doesn’t live to the hype

The website is extremely hard to navigate. On day 1 of our cruise we were told to get off the boat after the meeting time because it wasn’t ready yet. This kind of disorganisation could have been avoided if you had a later meeting time. The price of excursions and drinks was pretty expensive and the fact that there wasn’t organised shuttles for a lot of stops was quite poor. There was a lot of hidden extras that added up. I definitely should have researched my ship more as it was way too party for me. I liked that breakfast and lunch was included everyday, however we didn’t get a lot of free time at most stops. Whilst I’m glad I did it I wouldn’t be doing another sail again. I think navigator is best suited to under 25 party goers. Also you shouldn’t ask people to review on the last day in front of their tour manager. It’s very awkward and not anonymous.

Hi Kieran, thank you for your review. We are continuously improving our customer experience by ensuring our website is easy to navigate. Check-in time onboard is from 10:30am - 12pm, however please note that your boat may not be ready by this time as mentioned in your pre-departure documentation. The boat left promptly at 1pm as scheduled. We do advise that dinners, drinks and excursions are at an additional cost so that you can budget for this, we have prices for drinks and excursions available. We're happy to know you enjoyed the inclusions of breakfasts and lunches. However, are sorry to hear this was too party orientated. Our Navigator cruises are aimed at under 39 year old travellers looking for a more party type cruise. Perhaps the Explorer cruise may be a better option as this has a good balance of socialising, relaxing and exploring. We encourage reviews and feedback to be provided privately, in your own words - we will be investigating further, thank you for making us aware. Thank you again for all your comments Kieran as this is the only way we can look to improve our services where possible. Thank you.

Room for improvement

We were super lucky with the other guests we got on our boat as they are what made our trip the 3 stars instead of a 1. The staff on our boat were so unorganized, uninterested and if I’m being honest just not up to the standard of a premier ship. It didn’t even feel like we had staff on board. Our excretions were either late or not booked and our food was always late and again not up to standard of what I was told I would be getting for premier. We had zero boat parties or group activities organized compared to another sail Croatia boat next to us. Brody who was leading the boat next to us was amazing he tried include us in as many activities as he could but he had his own boat to run. I give full credit to him for trying to include us. I also don’t appreciate people on the boat being messaged by the lead of our boat asking to give her a good review. If you want a good review them be a good boat host!! Definite room for improvement on this premier boat

Great experience but room was unbearably hot

Great experience and people involved! Loved everything that was provided however paid extra to have an ensuite and be on top deck however the heat in my room was unbearable. It was right next to the engine room, the aircon faced away from the bed and didn’t provide any cooling effect. The bathroom was tiny and hot with the shower head facing the toilet. I didn’t sleep in the room at all and slept on the floor down below deck as the air con was much better down there. I would like to be compensated for the extra money I paid for an ensuite as the room was not liveable.

We have 4 ship types available; Standard, Ensuite, Premier and Premier Plus on our Navigator cruises. I can see that you booked an Ensuite ship which includes ensuite and a fan in your cabin. Air-conditioning is not included on our Ensuite ship, however we are pleased to hear your Captain turned this on in the communal areas downstairs free of charge. Having a look at the ratings for this room for previous departures, the feedback given was 5 stars for the previous two departures. I have confirmation from our Onboard Representative that the fan was in working order in your cabin. I would highly recommend our Premier or Premier Plus ship in future as this includes air-conditioning and more cabin space for added comfort. Thank you again for your feedback.

Not what I expected

I came on Sail Croatia alone which was fine since I met tons of nice new friends on the cruise. My issue was with our guide. He was very unenthusiastic the whole time, made sexist comments, and generally made me feel uncomfortable as a solo passenger by making rude comments. I have good things to say about the boat, the captain, and his crew as the boat was always in good condition, and we safely got everywhere we were going, however the bartender was another story. Although he freepoured the drinks, he was unpredictible in his attitude, sometimes being happy and friendly, and sometimes getting angry with passengers for ordering certain drinks or ordering lots of drinks. This made me feel uncomfortable going to the bar to order drinks. Finally, since the whole crew was male and our guide was male, I felt disadvantaged on the boat as a solo woman, since they were all more friendly with the male passengers. Overall, a more friendly, enthusiastic guide would have improved my experience.

I can see that we had 20 females and 16 males onboard your cruise, with 5 solo travellers. We are family owned and each of the ships we work with are also family-owned and operated. Together we make up Sail Croatia. Although our Reps are employed and trained by Sail Croatia, our ships and their captains are in charge of employing their own crew, ensuring their staff maintain a high level of service throughout the cruise. We are disappointed to read your comments regarding the guide and bartender. We have passed these comments on to the appropriate departments to provide further support and training where required. We are sorry to hear you felt uncomfortable, we encourage guests to notify our Operations Manager for any issues that may arise onboard so that we can resolve them immediately. fine

I find it deceiving that you call it "sail" croatia and they aren't sail boats. We were directed to only the main tourist spots, where nothing was original and everything was overpriced. Each night was clubbing or nothing, and there was never a recommended cool laid back wine night or beer spot or cafe. The crew was great and our guide was awesome... but I think this tour company needs to market themselves more accurately and honestly. Ultimately, it was a disappointment for me and travel time could have been better spent.

Our company name is Sail Croatia and we do offer multiple different options to our clients along the Adriatic coast line. We have our Under 39 Yacht Tours on sailing boats, cruises on small motor cruises and also Private Yacht Tours, also on sailing boats. Our website does clearly show the vessels used for each option and on our Navigator cruise page also gives you more information on our Standard ships which is what you booked with us. Thank you for your feedback here and I do hope this did not deter you from having a great time in Croatia. Thank you for joining us.

Great week with fantastic crew but the boat did not meet expectations

We upgraded to the premier navigator cruise and had a ship that was not nearly up to the standard of the ships depicted in the ‘premier navigator’ video. Our ship was basic only with the added extra of aircon. The crew were fantastic however the group asked for the spa, which was filthy, to be cleaned many times which wasn’t done. The spa was advertised as one of the premier added bonuses and it was extremely disappointing that we couldn’t use it. The food on board exceeded expectation.

Ceira, Sales Rep at Sail Croatia replied 2019-09-27:

Hi there and thanks for your review. It's great to hear that the crew were a great inclusion on your cruise. The ships used on our Navigator Premier page vary in style, some more traditional, rustic wooden ships and others more modern steel ships. Our Premier ships offer spacious cabins, (generally 6-8m2) with ensuite and air-conditioning. The jacuzzi may not be available at all times due to conditions such as electricity consumption, fresh water usage onboard and weather conditions however, we will be investigating this further. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the food - it's not easy producing great meals for so many people with a limited kitchen but the chefs manage to do that which is amazing. Thanks again.

Sales Customer Service

Lets start with the good experience. Staff onboard the ship Captain, Sailor and Tour guide were fantastic! It is them that makes the trip worth while. On another note, the sales team are terrible with their service. I told them from the beginning I am travelling with my partner and requested a double bed. They said it depends on the availability as first come first serve. When we got onboard, two girls who DID NOT request for a double bed got one and my partner and i got stuck on a bunk bed. There were only 3 couples on the ship. 2 whom got a double bed, except us. I would have been fine with it had we missed out because we booked later and the 3 doubles were already requested. It is upsetting when somebody gets .a room they didnt request and someone who really really wanted it doesnt. The rooms are ridiculously small and most of all there is no air circulation, if you left your door open, you would smell diesel, or others coming back in the early hours from partying. RIDICULOUS!

Lack of Freedom

Overall the boat was good on the marija magdalena. There was no ac so it was impossible to sleep and could be purchased but only if 12 out of the 18 people on the boat agreed to pay. The downside was there was also no freedom during our stops in the towns. Our rep planned 5 of our 7 dinners with many of the food being disapointing. When we requested to do our own thing and meet at the boat for "happy hour" we were made to feel guilty about not going along with what he had planned. I understamd that he eats for free or makes comission by taking us as a large group to these meals which we shouldnt be forced to do as they are not included in the price of the sail. Our rep also spent most nights drinking and on the morning of our departure was too hungover to get up and awnser questions we had that morning which almost resulted in me missing my flight. The only good things were the food on the boat prepared by the cook, which were included in the price and the swim spots.

Great week, but could do with a few improvements

In all I had a great time on the Split Return - Navigator tour. We chose to go Premier and I was really happy with the boat and accommodation - very clean and spacious. Initially and at times during the week however, I found Sail Croatia staff to be unfriendly and rude. There were times staff burst in on our cabin which I found to be an invasion of privacy. Food was generally okay - would be good to have a menu provided for the week. The onboard BBQ was a highlight though - the food was great!! Should also not that the vast majority of passengers are from Australia (32 of 36 passengers on my boat) - obviously not an issue, just a slight surprise!

Our cruises are popular with Antipodeans as well as travellers from other parts of the world. Sounds as though your cruise and departure date was well sought after my our Australian travellers😊.

Great way to see Croatia - too much focus on alcohol

Whilst we enjoyed our trip we did feel there was a lot of emphasis around getting drunk and staying on the boat rather than going and seeing the beautiful sights of Croatia. We were disappointed we the group dinners, one example being Korcula - we were rushed through the old town within 10 minutes to be taken to a very basic restaurant in a shopping mall! I understand sail Croatia had partners and is trying to ensure everything is affordable for everyone however I think they could do a bit better than that!

Our Navigator cruises are our most sociable cruise types aimed at 18-35 year old travellers. In saying this, each of our guests have the choice to partake in all the optional activities during the week, from excursions and day tours, to dinners and club visits. Some of our guests prefer to do their own thing and find a cosy restaurant or bar to enjoy meals/drinks - once you arrive into each town you can spend this time as you wish 😊. There is a fully licensed bar onboard each of our ships where guests are welcome to purchase both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Drinks are not allowed to be brought onto the boat from outside sources for the safety and wellbeing of our guests. Upon checking our feedback, we are pleased to see you rated the Crew, Meals and Cleanliness all 5-stars, thank you.

Dietary requirements

When booking the sail I informed them about our dietary requirements when on the boat the staff had no idea about my dietary requirements. The staff were very helpful and accommodated to me but I think it is very poor communication from the sales staff who we booked through to the staff on the ship.

Poor assigning of ages to boat and number ratio

Was not happy with my sail. I was the oldest on my boat I was solo also which is fine. But the oldest boy was 21. Majority were 18-20 year olds. I made friends on another boat Vosica. I wish I was on that boat. Was a bigger boat with people my age doing the same route. Was very dissapointed a shame you couldn’t have put other solo travellers of similar age on the same boat.

Navigator Tour - Dubrovnik to Split

The trip was amazing. The only suggestions I would make would be to have more chances to do optional activities. Most of the activities we signed up for ended up not going ahead due to not enough people signing up . The Tarin crew and Zach were amazing and really made the trip that much better.

Captain was cranky, staff unhelpful and we missed two major stop locations.

Get a captain that actually likes young people seeing as it is a cruise for youth and partying. Staff members should be happy and willing to serve us on the boat, not treat it like its a hassle. When major stops are missed, equal opportunities or activities should be planned instead rather than wasting days at the same ports. The trip was disappointing.

Okay Experience

We had rooms on the lower deck of the boat. There was constant smells of petrol in these cabins (even worse when it was rough seas because the boat motor was working even harder) ... it actually was a huge health and safe issue with it being so much gas at one point I had to go upstairs to get air because I felt so dizzy. There was not a running air conditioning( or air vents anywhere) that allowed for fresh air to be pumped into these cabins so it was really not a great experience to sleep/ stay on board. This wouldn’t be acceptable in Australia or New Zealand, as of the health and safety risks here but because it is Croatia this slipped by. Really not up to standards.

Not a party cruise and definitely needs improvment

This product is advertised as a party cruise however our cruise manager was barely seen, we had noise curfews of 10pm in place every night, activities were restricted and also too many people on activities if you do decide to go on them. Barely any communication from cruise manager and boat staff e.g. change of docking location ending in 20km journey to town and not to mention docking at a terrible dock for 2 nights. Very disappointed in Sail Croatia, the only thing that made this Sail good was that we were with 20 of our friends on the cruise. I felt sorry for the people on the cruise who were solo or couple travellers because of the lack of organisation. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

For the safety of all guests, the captain decided that it was best to dock in Stari Grad (on Hvar Island) for the 2 nights due to severe storm announcements. I understand your cruise manager had organised transfers to and from Hvar. We are really pleased that you enjoyed the company of your fellow travellers and upon checking our feedback for your departure, we are also happy to see that some of the other travellers in your group enjoyed their cruise experience. Thank you again for your review.

Sail Croatia

Sail did not exceed my expectations. There were far too many girls on board and it was a mess upon arrival with our towels stained. Our speakers were too quiet with none on the top deck - where everyone sat. The guide Zac did an amazing job with including each guest and ensuring everyone was happy. Not only was he professional and had great knowledge but was also considered a friend among the guests - who went above and beyond to help us create life long memories. The crew did a great job at making the guests feel uncomfortable. It was clear that they didn’t like Zac (as they had openly said to other guests). The bartender said that she wanted to get him kicked off the boat. Alena lied to us about the price of the bell shots compared to other boats, and spread false and inappropriate rumours about fellow guests and Zac around the boat. I’ve never experienced a tour-guide to put as much effort into his job like Zac, who excelled in high pressure situations with a large number of guests

Many thanks for your review. I want to thank you for your feedback, we do really appreciate this as this enables us to improve for the future. Thank you for your comments on your Representative Zac, it's wonderful to hear he did such a great job on board with you and your fellow travellers. We do always try our best for an even mix of gender ratio, however this is not always possible due to the nature of bookings we receive. I've passed your comments on regarding the towels and speakers on board Navigator to our Operations Manager, thank you for brining this to our attention. We do appreciate you as a valued customer of ours and are glad the issues raised did not deter you from having a great time on board. Thanks for joining us!

Sail

The tour manager was great (zac) he was friendly, Informative and extremely caring for us and always went to extreme lengths to make sure we were okay by the end of the trip it really felt like we had all formed a special bond with him - it was really upsetting to see the crew on board treat him poorly and act in a racist manner making his job 20x harder. They crew were not welcoming to him and did not treat him as a part of the team which as guests we could see it dampened his mood however he still kept his high spirits to ensure we were having the best time - i really enjoyed my time on the boat but honestly the only let down was the crew - the captain was rude and the bar tender was only out to harm the tour guide (hiding his ipad, his tip jar and telling guest that ringing the bell was the same price on all boats) - the rooms needed to be cleaned lightly and we should of been offered fresh towels

Sail Croatia navigator

Zac really made our experience 100 times better. He went above and beyond to give us as much info on the town as possible. He helped the group intergrade very easily with his down to earth, friendly personality. I found many times the crew to be working against Zac, and while he was doing the best job possible they did not seem to be cooperating with him and this made his job a lot harder then it needed to be. Many times I found the crew to be unprofessional, spreading information relating to Zac which was untrue and created an unhealthy environment for guests to interact. The captain was not very interactive with the guests. Our belongings were chucked in the bin before we had even exited the boat without any prior warning. We had a large group of 42 guests but Zac did an amazing job to create such a good atmosphere and resolve any incidents as quickly as they arose. If it wasn’t for Zac our time on the boat would Not be the same and I can’t thank him enough for the memories made :)

BUDGET travel, cutting corners all around on navigator

Excursions were poorly planned with a lot of waiting time and timing did not make sense with the rest of the day scheduled. Swim stops were random in the middle of the sea and not in pretty locations as advertised. Some of the excursions offered were not even possible to complete due to timing constraints. The food was cheap, very small portions, and the drinks were under poured. Our ship was lucky enough to be equipped with AC which we paid for directly to the captain, except it "didn't work" 2/7 nights and we still had to pay for the full 7. The captain was very cheap and would shut it off thinking we wouldn't say anything. We weren't allowed to swim when parked in Port and there mostly wasnt time to beach bc of lunch at 1-230pm. Lunch was way too long for no reason. No snacks provided in between meals. They assumed as budget travelers we wouldn't notice all the corners they cut. Overall very poor. We left the boat 2 nights early. Would not recommend unless you want low class travel.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of your Navigator cruise. Excursions are subject to minimum and maximum numbers. Also, due to limited time in each location, some excursions do occur at the same time as others, it's not always possible to take part in more than one excursion at the same destination, I'm afraid. I've looked into your comment regarding the air-conditioning on board and you were booked onto an Ensuite ship where air-conditioning is not included in the cost of the cruise. I've been advised the captain did offer air-conditioning to the whole ship at an additional cost per person, per day and when this was not working for the final 2 days of the cruise this was then refunded back to everyone. It is not possible to swim in the ports as it is not safe to do so. This is a rule on board all of our ships as we would not want you to come into any harm by swimming where the ships are docked. Daily breakfast and a 3 course lunch is included in the cost of your cruise, however snacks between meals are not included. We have a process in place which is shown in your pre-departure information, so if you do have any issues at all on board we hope to resolve them before you disembark. I have looked into this further and I cannot see that you left the cruise early or raised any of these concerns with your on board Representative. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this feedback and we hope that you enjoyed other aspects of your cruise and that the issues onboard didn't detract from your overall experience and Croatia as a whole. Thank you.

Not for the over 30's or in the rain!

A lot of things weren't yet open as we went at the start of summer but there were no alternative plans and we weren't notified until the actual day - the cave bar was a big loss! There was nothing planned for the bad weather, it basically rained for the full week so swim stops, kayaking etc was not possible but we weren't given any alternative activities. 18-35 is too wide of an age gap. A 25-35 boat option would work well. The food was far too salty and the vegetarian options at times were poor- we seemed to just get grilled vegetables in replace for all of the meat at every meal! There were no snacks available on board which if you didn't enjoy lunch, aren't able to bring food on board and are somewhere in the middle of the sea can be quite frustrating!

Snacks is something that we may look into for future seasons, we thank you for your comments here. We are sorry to hear about the meal options provided, our chefs try to cater to a wide range of tastes but at times, this is not possible - your comments will be passed on to the appropriate team. Did not get what we paid for

We booked the sail for late May. The itinerary did not match what was guaranteed on the website. Major clubs were closed and some excursions were cancelled. We expected a party boat and the our boat “Tuna” was definitely not that. Absolutely no money from the captain has gone into this boat to make it fun. We sailed along side “Penelopa” (the standard boat - same route) and watched their boat have a whole different experience. They had speakers that were loud and actually worked. They had party lights. They had two bars. They had no noise restrictions. They had a silent disco. Our group on board Tuna felt ripped off as we got none of these party features, having paid more for the en-suite rooms. Six people left our boat due to the lack of vibe and other reasons. Not only that but the bar staff was unprofessional and quite unapproachable. This made us feel uncomfortable. If we didn’t have such a lovely group of people on board the experience would’ve been 1 star.

Age gap !!!

Could have been better

The boat was not equal genders which effected the vibe. The tour leader could have been a lot better and overall it just wasn't as fun as we expected

Hi there and thank you for your review regarding our Navigator cruise. We are sorry to hear the demographics onboard effected the vibe on your boat. We always aim to get a good mix of travellers on all our boats, taking into consideration age, nationality, gender and group makeup - couples, singles and groups of friends. However the makeup of the boat is heavily reliant on who has booked. This particular week we had more females than males book on your cruise across all boat. We do hope that you enjoyed your time in Croatia as a whole. Thanks again.

Semi disappointed

Although the cruise was lovely and we explored some fantastic water and towns - for the price we paid 8 couldn't help being a little disappointed. We were not given 1 litre of water per day as promised and instead had to use individual cups from a water dispenser. Fresh towels also should have been provided in order to maintain better hygiene - our boat had an outbreak of gastro. All in all, a fun experience but definitely some room for improvement. Our crew was great as was our leader.

Upon request, the crew will be more than happy to change your towel for you. We are pleased that overall, you enjoyed your time on the cruise and in Croatia as a whole.

Navigator August 20

I was very disappointed in this your due to the fact that I was combined with a very large group who had booked together and further, several older couples. I am a young solo traveller and was not put with other like minded individuals. The group I was put with seemed to be more like an explorer group and even though Nagivators are designed for 18-35 year olds there were people on board that were much older. This did not make my time fun at all. Further, I feel it was selfish for sail Croatia to place such a combination of people together, given that I had paid so much for the trip. I will not be booking with sail Croatia ever again.

Hi there and thank you for your feedback on our Navigator Return cruise. We see that you also had a friend book on your boat - and we hope they enjoyed their cruise also. We always aim to get a good mix of guests on our boats, taking into consideration age, nationality, gender, solo travellers, couples and groups. However, this heavily depends on who has booked. We hope you enjoyed Croatia as a whole and we thank you for providing feedback.

Navigator

Be specific about what extras are offered for your sail. We wanted to do zip lining and i had previously emailed sail croatia to ensure we would have a chance to do it. Get on our boat and ask first day to be told not in our itinerary which was disappointing. We asked again if we would have time and were told no. We rearranged our trip back from dubrovnik to zagreb and when we stopped in omis and did the zip lining we would have definately been able to complete this in time before the boat departed omis. Other than that. Trip was great.

Party boat

This tour is definitely suited to people who just want to party. I didn't know a lot about Sail Croatia before I went on this tour so I was surprised that it was just all Aussie's and Kiwi's. The food was pretty terrible. We had to skip 2 islands because of the weather. I didn't like how we had multiple tour managers, it would have been nice to have one for the entire trip. But apart from that I met a lot of cool people and got to see the spectacular islands.

Hi there, thank you for your review. It is great to hear you met a lot of cool people and enjoyed the islands. Our Navigator cruises are designed for 18-35 year olds looking to socialise with more of a party-type atmosphere. We try our best to ensure our website is clear to guests about the experience of each cruise, and we are happy to assist if anyone is unsure of which cruise to choose. We also have an online cruise assessment which you can use to find out which cruise is best suited to you. Our cruises are very popular with New Zealanders and Australians as well as various different countries, and where possible we do try to ensure an even mix of travellers onboard our boats taking into consideration ages, nationalities and genders, however this heavily depends no who has booked. Your comments about food will be looked into so we can improve this for the future. With regards to you having multiple Sail Croatia Representatives, this is something that we are currently assessing.

Glorified Booze Cruise

While all of the places we ported on the trip were gorgeous, the Sail-Croatia experience was disappointing. The itinerary that we were presented with described beautiful towns and exertions, but failed to mention that that main focus of every single day was which club the boat would be attending that night. I am no stranger to a good party, but this trip was truly a glorified booze cruise and was not what we expected. It is also important to note that the sail-Croatia groups do not have a good reputation in the different ports and so when we were with the big group we often got poor service. sail-Croatia clearly has deals with certain restaurants that they urge you to go to and they were often sub-par. The worst part of the whole trip was that we paid extra for an air-conditioned room due to the forcasted heat at the time of year we were traveling. There was a tiny fan in the room that provided no relief from the heat. It was nearly impossible to sleep. Overall a disappointment.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. It is great to read that you found the ports gorgeous. In regards to the itinerary, our Navgiator cruises are aimed at 18 to 35 year old travellers looking to socialise, party and experience the Croatian night life. We find that passengers joining this cruise wish to experience the bars and clubs at each port, so the Sail Croatia Representative will organise this for them. We have Explorer cruises which are suitable for those wishing not to partake in a Navigator experience, and we would always recommend this for customers who would like to avoid partying. There are a number of organised cruises in Croatia which have quite large groups dining at different restaurants daily, we are one of the longest, well established cruise companies in Croatia. We have partners who we work with at each destination where guest can recieve discounts, free drinks and/or free entry. Customers are under no obligation to visit these bars, and are welcome to explore themselves or we can provide recommendations of other places to dine. You had booked on an Ensuite ship and air-conditioning isn't available on our Ensuite ships however the cabins do include fans. Air-conditioning is available on our Premier and Premier Plus ships. Thank you for your feedback.

Sail Croatia - fun time

Had a great time, however, the ratio of girls to guys was way too unbalanced on our boat, we were 28 girls and 5 guys, where 14 of those girls came as a group and kept to themselves most of the time. This limited group socialising. And then hearing about other boats who were having so much more fun as their group socialised more. Was a great cruise, make some cool friends nonetheless.

Thank you for your feedback on our Navigator Dubrovnik to Split cruise. It's great to hear you had a good time on this cruise and made some new friends. We always aim to get a good balance on-board all our boats taking into consideration age, gender, nationality, group makeup - friends, solo travellers and couples. However, at times this is not possible as it heavily depends on who has booked what boat. We would like all our guests to socialise with other groups on-board, but it is down to the individual. In saying this, we had several boats on this route which hopefully provided you with a more sociable atmosphere in being able to mingle with travellers from other boats. Thanks again for your feedback.

Great trip overall but situations could have been dealt better

We have a few negative issues; 1. They should have a different system in placed for the way drinks would be tallied up. 2. We had a wonderful leader but the way she was treated by others on our boat, was uncalled for. The other crew members ie Captain should have intervened when abusive/threatening language was used at the leader.
