Cruise not quite for us

First of all the added costs. Quite a few of the added activities were charged. The prices when converted to Australian dollars were quite expensive. Recommended tipping at the end was very high and this was noted by other passengers as well. We were looking at around AU$700 for the service. Considering how much we paid for the cruise wevconsidered it unreasonable to expect extra charges like this on top. Meals. Breakfasts were very nice. However, some of the lunches were variable in quality. Generally, the entree and deserts were fine but some of the main courses were not to liking. Captains dinner was disappointing. The Entertainment was noisy: not allowing any kind of conversation between the passengers. As an older couple, we found the loud music and tactic singing and dancing to be a bit disconcerting. Nikos and Ivanka were both friendly and always helpful. 5 stars to both of them. Also, the cabin was comfortable and clean and about was beautifully presented.

Hello Rupert, thank you for taking the time to review your cruise with us this season. We are pleased to hear that you found your cabin comfortable and clean, enjoyed the beautiful presentation of the ship, and that both Nikos and Ivanka made such a positive impression during your cruise. We will be sure to pass on your kind words to them. Guest feedback is very important to us, so we do appreciate you sharing your experience with us. You can find a helpful blog on Tipping on the website and further information is also included in the Pre-Departure Information sent to you prior to departure. We do also note on the Elegance page and Excursions page which activities are included, free or charge or at an additional cost. If ever in doubt, we encourage guests to always reach out to their on board Sail Croatia Representative. Thank you for joining us this season and exploring beautiful Croatia.

It was an ok cruise.

Provide daily written out itinerary for people to actually read what times and where things were going on. Have an intercom (overhead speaker) so people can be alerted of pertinent info for all passengers. Verbal daily communication from guide was poor on daily activities. Cycle times need to be longer with less “coffee” breaks (30 min ride, 45 min stop) Our guide, was rude. Our other guide, Mario, was great. Overall, first impression of accommodations found that a bed overhead light was broken with wires exposed, safe didn’t work, tight quarters and air conditioning was poor, Reported broken light immediately and it was repaired.. Safe reported not working, told how to use by crew, but those instructions didn’t work….finally found written safe instructions on top shelf (which we couldn’t see beforehand) and was able to get the safe working on our own.. Food was ok. Bikes were outstanding quality….so good, I’m considering purchasing that brand. Swim stops were great.

Hi Charlene, Thank you for your detailed feedback and for highlighting the many positives – we’re pleased to know you enjoyed the swim stops, food, guidance from Mario, and the quality of the bikes, which we’re glad to hear impressed you enough to consider purchasing for yourself. We also appreciate your suggestions regarding a written itinerary, intercom, and cycle breaks, which have been passed on to our Operations Team. We are disheartened to read your comments about one of the Guides, as he has consistently received high praise throughout the season. We’re glad the issues with the light and safe were addressed during your stay, and we will share your note about clearer instructions with our team. Your comments are valuable as we continue striving to enhance our guests’ experience.

Disappointed with food quality and outdoor deck furniture availability

Improve breakfast offerings, variety and presentation. Offer better quality coffee and tea options. Communication with passengers and kitchen waiting staff. Improve lunch offerings, more vegetables, and meat quality and variety. Serve tables with waiters offering drinks. Have coffee and tea making available during day with biscuits etc The discussion of itinerary to be held prior to lunch service. No smoking on ship for passengers and crew. Provide equal number of deck chairs to passengers. We had 10 deck chairs for 36 passengers and I witnessed a passenger confrontation Set outdoor furniture up for passenger comfort prior to breakfast service

Hi Alison - Thank you for your feedback, and we hope you enjoyed the beauty of Croatia and discovering its lovely islands. Our chefs always aim to provide a variety of meals using fresh, local produce, even within the limitations of a small ship’s galley. Your comments regarding meals, table service, tea and coffee availability, communication with kitchen staff, and deck chairs have been passed on to our Operations Team for review - we appreciate your input. Please note there are designated smoking areas on board, usually located towards the back of the boat. Looking through our internal records, we understand there was some confusion over breakfast timings, which was quickly addressed with your Rep. We value your comments as they help us continue to review and refine our service as we strive to maintain the high standards.

A great week

We had a wonderful week. The staff was amazing, helpful and friendly. The ports and swim stops were unreal. My only negative feedback would be the food. I did not enjoy the food at all. Another negative was how dark the bathrooms are.

The doc

I would have discounted our room as we were directly over the engine which was ear splitting.y loud, had home made cookies available all day, served better quality salads, had more beach towels for guests, more water toys, I.e., paddle boards nd kayaks and laundry services available. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Hi Linda, thank you for your feedback. It's great to hear that you found the staff friendly and helpful! We regret to learn that some aspects didn't meet your expectations. While your Above Deck cabin was located near the engine room, as with all small ship cruises, some engine noise can be experienced – many guests find this a minor part of the authentic sailing experience. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions regarding cookies, salads, beach towels, water toys, and laundry services. Our crew are happy to accommodate where possible and assist in extra towels, more salad and providing recommendations on laundromats. Your comments will be passed on to our team as we continually look for ways to enhance the guest experience. We hope to welcome you back on board for another enjoyable cruise soon!

Room for improvement

You offer transfers from airport to boat, but not hotel to boat, I cannot see the difference in going to airport or a hotel? We had 2 hot showers at of 7 days - this is unacceptable. Coffee and tea should be available at all times. Other food options should be available at all times Wifi was poor, consider using starlink We had 1 towel to use for the week??

Thank you for your review and for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of your trip didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns. Regarding transfers, we do offer complimentary Elegance transfers to and from the local airport only, as per our contracted service. We understand the convenience of a hotel-to-port transfer, but this is not included in the Elegance package as advertised - this information can be found under FAQ's. We’re sorry to hear you experienced difficulties with the hot water. According to our internal report, the crew did investigate your concerns and found the issue to be related to the operation of the shower control. The knob needed to be turned fully to the left and given some time to activate the hot water. The Captain also explained that the water is heated while the engine is running, and this was communicated to you. After these clarifications, it was confirmed that hot water was available throughout. With regard to towels, each guest is provided with one beach towel for the week, however plenty of showering towels are provided and if you found yourself needing more towels for showering, you simply needed to speak to the crew and your Onboard Representative for additional towels or other needs — they are always happy to assist. Concerning Wi-Fi, we do provide complimentary access on board; however, as outlined in our materials, connection quality can vary due to signal coverage along the coast and limitations inherent to sailing. Thank you for your further thoughts on food and beverages onboard which have been passed on to operations team together with your entire constructive feedback which is very welcome. Thank you again for traveling with us and we do hope to see you again!

Disappointing

First of all, let me say that the people involved (crew, etc.) were excellent. I have no problem with any of them. Our cruise director was especially friendly and personable. Plus, I found Croatia to be a most beautiful country. That said, it was not one of my favorite trips. I found most places we stopped to be glorified "tourist traps." Most things were far too expensive, and we were constantly confronted with cost after cost for anything we might want to do. I think that should I ever return to Croatia, I'd probably pick one or two places and spend more time exploring more than just tourist trap stuff. I guess that could be said, however, for many such cruises, etc. Have traveled to several countries, however, this will not be considered one of my favorites.

Sail / Cycle tour

The boat was very old and really it did fall short of expectations. Light didn't work. No key for safe. Old and slippery tiles in shower. Old shower. It needs to be better. Communication between guides and passengers was minimal. Half the time we were never really sure of what was going on. Rides were spread out. You probably need 2 groups. One to do a longer ride, and one to do a shorter ride. We also needed to stop at a private bay here and there for a swim. We rode past so many secluded rocky beaches with crystal clear water, but never stopped

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review of our services! We're sorry to hear that some aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. We take all feedback seriously, and upon reviewing our internal reports, we found no records of issues concerning the lighting, safe, or shower facilities in your cabin. We have a rigorous process in place for reporting and resolving any onboard concerns, which is outlined in your pre-departure information. Following this process ensures that no issue goes unaddressed and gives our crew the best opportunity to resolve matters promptly during the cruise. While we have received excellent feedback throughout the season for your ship, we appreciate all insights and will take your comments into consideration to ensure we maintain a high standard for all our guests. In terms of ride structure, we understand your concern about group pacing. Safety is a top priority for us, which is why we always provide two experienced guides for each ride — one at the front and one at the back — to manage different riding speeds and support the group throughout the route. We also appreciate your suggestion about offering separate ride options for different levels and will certainly take this into consideration for future departures.Your idea to include more swim stops at secluded bays is also well noted. We agree that these moments can be some of the most memorable, and we’ll explore how we can better incorporate them where timing and logistics allow. Thank you again for your feedback — it plays a key role in helping us enhance the experience for future guests.

Customer focus

The trip destinations and food was great. The attitude of some staff including the cruise director was pretty poor. The captain of the boat and chef were excellent but other staff were openly stating they were over the season and complaining or arguing with the customers. The cruise director twice had harsh words with us through no fault of our own which is unacceptable.

For this week, guest ratings were generally high, with most scoring 4 and 5 stars for the crew, so I’m sorry to hear your experience was not the same. We expect all our customers to have the same experience throughout the season and your comments have been passed on to our management team, and we’ll address this with the crew to ensure improvements are made. Sail croatia

I enjoyed the week, our leader Vin was very good. I thought there were a lot of hidden costs not very transparent when booking the trip, we had way more inclusions with our last tour we attended with a different company and felt we got more moneys worth with them. Also disappointing that we missed out on two stops due to weather which is understandable however when other sail Croatia ships still go despite what we are being told it does raise some questions. The last day in particular we docked into Dubrovnik port a day early due to weather conditions and then missed out on our swim stop the next day as port authorities wouldn’t let our boat leave? We then found out other sail Croatia boats left for there swim stop which didn’t make much sense, the crew weren’t very transparent with us on the why. The whole last day of our trip was spent docked up, we were told we could go to the beach but then we had to pay 20€ for an uber to get there, frustrating when you pay money to be on a boat.

Hi Alison, thank you for taking the time to review your cruise with us this season. I'm very pleased to read that overall you enjoyed your time in Croatia with us and that your Representative Vin made a positive impression! It is a shame to hear that you have come across hidden costs on your cruise, as we aim to set the right expectations for our guests. Guests can find what to budget for in their Pre-Departure Information as well as the FAQ section of our website - and inclusions are readily available on our product pages online. We understand changes to the itinerary can be frustrating, however these changes are made at the Captains discretion and usually down to safety reasons. We do hope you left with good memories of Croatia and we truly value you taking the time to provide us with your feedback, Alison!

Amazing Locations on a wonderful boat

We really enjoyed our time on the Salve Di Mare. The locations we visited were beautiful! Absolutely stunning. Our cruise director Dino was friendly and informative. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't say anyone went above and beyond though. The rooms were nice and always cleaned well. The cruise is expensive and we really do not believe that is was worth the price we paid. The food was average at best. Well cooked, but boring. Breakfast was front 8 -9.30 with zero flexibility. No food or options for food is offered between breakfast and lunch. So if you miss breakfast, bad luck. Lunch was a 3 course meal and although I eat everything, my partner doesn't eat fish and instead received a piece of 'stuffed' half zucchini instead. During swim stops, which were again, stunning! While on the top deck reading a book, no one ever came up to ask if you'd like a drink! I found that the most puzzling. Wouldn't you want to make money?! Hard to give 3 stars, we loved it!

- Luke Carvell, 04/08/2025 08:10, Travelled in a Couple

Fantastic Vacation - But the experience fell short of expectations when considering the price

Pros: Crew was great overall. The bartenders/servers were fantastic. Breakfast was fine to good and met expectations. Croatia is a beautiful country and our tour guide/runner was a local that was very knowledgeable in this aspect. Cons: Lunch was in general, underwhelming for the cost. My wife is a health nut, and I saw her salt food for the first time in my life. When paying this premium on price I would expect the food to be more elevated, or at least more enjoyable. The video implied more access to the boat than we received. Several small requests - like opening windows, screens, etc were denied and the requests themselves often felt as if we were asking the staff to move mountains. Tour guide was not particularly friendly, often had condescending responses to guests, & occasionally left out vital info when visiting particular islands (i.e cash only). Unfortunately, the experience on the cheaper options is probably more reflective of the value you receive on the Elegance line.

- Kyle, 20/06/2025 02:30, Travelled in a Couple

Cruise was great-corporate service, not so much

1) Omit overnight on day 7 of trip. End the trip after lunch on day 6. This eliminates unreasonably early check out on day 7 and also makes it easier for a guest to check in to their hotel in DBV without having to wait until 12:00 or 13:00 check in time. 2) Onshore excursion options need clear explanation in pretrip communication. Example: I was not told that a scenic bus tour and a walking tour of DBV was available, so I booked them in advance with Viator. If I had known I would have gone on the onshore excursion instead. 3) Include the use of one pannier on the bike. 4) Include written instructions for charging the bike battery and operating the ebike. 5) There were three outlets in the cabin. That is insufficient to charge two bike batteries plus two phones plus hearing aids, etc. A simple multi-plug adapter can fix this issue. 6) Guide must not make promises he doesn't keep. Example: A military tour was promised on one island (Vis?) but was never delivered.

Ceira, Sales Rep at Sail Croatia replied 2025-06-12:

Hi Tom, thank you for your 3-star review. We also appreciate your detailed positive feedback and we’re so pleased you enjoyed the cruise and would recommend us. Guests are always welcome to disembark once the boat docks at the final destination, should they prefer to end their trip earlier. Your comments about the pannier, charging instructions, and multi-plug adapters are appreciated and have been passed to our Operations Team for review. While our guides provide information at the daily briefing based on the cycle schedule, some activities, such as onshore excursions or optional tours, may be subject to change or availability. We regret that the expectations around the military tour and Dubrovnik excursion options were not met - we appreciate your comments. Thank you again for your review.

OK But............

While this was somewhat of a good experience, there was too much down time, internet reception was extremely poor and whilst the crew were friendly enough they did not seem to want to go above and beyond, then at the end of the cruise, we were nearly shamed in to giving a tip, it was most uncomfortable.

Not worth the $6,000 aud. Croatia is incredible book your own trip to a few islands to embrace the beauty of Croatia without being ripped off

Whilst I enjoyed the Sail Croatia cruise, it was disappointing in a lot of ways and I definitely wouldn't do it again. The crew and boat/activities manager were fantastic. They were super friendly and helpful. Shout out to Ivana who was amazing! The food served on board was average for I would have expected for what we paid. The boat lacked atmosphere in the sense that they dont play music, which in Croatia I read that music is a big part of their culture so I expected to have the ambience of soft Croatian music playing whilst on the boat, towards the end they started to play some after getting the hint. I am disappointed that Hvar is listed on the website that it has an "incredible nightlife". The island has since changed but should not continue to be faulsely advertised by SailCroatia. I also find it offensive to be expected to give tips after dropping $6,000 aud on a cruise, Sail Croatia you should pay your excellent staff a proper wage and not expect tourist's to do it for you.

Hi Miki, Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your Sail Croatia cruise overall, especially your fantastic Tour Manager, crew, and the facilities onboard, which exceeded your expectations. We have a thorough process in place for handling complaints onboard, which includes raising any concerns with your Tour Manager and, if needed, escalating them to our customer service team so we can address them promptly. This process is outlined in your pre-departure documents and on the Sail Croatia app. We’ve reviewed our internal records and found no report of your concerns during the trip, and it appears the complaints process was not followed. Unfortunately, we’re unable to resolve issues that aren’t brought to our attention at the time. We’re sorry to hear the food wasn’t to your liking. We’ve reviewed feedback from your specific cruise and found the average food rating was 4.3/5 from fellow guests, though we understand experiences can vary and appreciate your input. Your comments regarding the music onboard have been shared with our operations team for review. Hvar is well known for its nightlife, beaches and waterfront restaurants, and offers well-known spots like Hula Hula Bar and Nautica Bar (famous for their flaming Jäger trains), along with a range of other vibrant nightlife options just a short walk from the port. Information on tipping - including guidelines on etiquette and suggested amounts - is available on our website, in pre-departure documents, and on the Sail Croatia App. Given the information provided in advance of your cruise, we were surprised to hear that the tipping process was unexpected. Tipping, while not customary in countries like Australia and New Zealand, is widely practised and appreciated in Croatia and across Europe. Many locals rely on the summer tourism season to earn the majority of their annual income, and while we pay all our staff a fair and competitive wage, tipping is a customary and appreciated way to acknowledge good service. It’s always optional but very much valued. Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback.

More time sightseeing, less time swimming

More comfortable seating and a shaded area on the top deck More time in port - the water is cold in early May so swimming isn’t a good activity. If the ship can’t dock earlier, the option of getting a water taxi or tender to port should be an option. Excursions were over-priced

Review

The locations and crew were outstanding. Our guides Mario and Marin were full of knowledge and stressed safe riding. The crew on the boat were also very good. The booking process was less than stellar. My son and I were assigned a room with one double bed, not two singles. Since are large people, it did not work. He slept under the bed. Booking knew the assignment but would not/could not change it. Serious screw up by the office staff.

As outlined in our FAQs, cabin types vary by ship and are based on 2 people sharing – with configurations including twin beds, bunk beds, or one double bed. Whilst preferences can be requested at booking, we cannot guarantee specific layouts due to each ship’s unique cabin setup and limited availability. Final cabin allocations are confirmed a week before departure. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again.

Bar service and coffee was terrible but biking and touri leaders were excellent

It was evident from the start the crew member had no experience and very little English. He didn't even know what vodka was. Apparently the fridge was down so we couldn't get ice or cold white wine. Beer was ok. He did not bring drinks during the meals and did not know how to clear dishes. Food was good but cold. Cabin was good but our toilet in ran the entire week although we had asked crew to fix it 4 times. We turned off the water to the tank between uses. We would have preferred to travel to our locations in the evening instead of waking up to engines starting at 5:30:or 6:00 am every day!

Loved the experience however….

I felt that while the guides did an exemplary job. The large number of cyclists (29) in the group was dangerous. The group should have been split into two. Complimentary tea and coffee while on board would have been appreciated. Other cycling tours we’ve been on gave out water bottles which are fun to have and a source of advertising for the company.

1. The wifi should work better. 2. For the price of the trip, I expected that we would have access to a good coffee machine 24/7. The urns provided were not satisfactory. 3. The excursions were overpriced. 4. The “included” tour of Dubrovnik should have included a bus to take passengers to the old town. 5. There should be enough treats during the coffee and tea hour (11-12) so everyone has a chance to get a snack. 6. The staff were friendly. 7. The boat was well kept. 8. Our rooms were kept clean. 9. The price of wine (bottles and glasses) were overpriced. 10. The captain’s dinner was very nice. It would have been better if wine was included.

Swim stops were cancelled due to weather without consulting passengers. Some activities were cancelled either because of equipment malfunction. A better hostess would be good.

Good but could be better …

The whole schedule felt very rushed. Once we reached each island we invariably had very little time to enjoy the destination of our cycle ride - which at times was quite arduous especially for those without e-bikes - before returning to the boat for lunch. The food provided was generally poor with limited fruit available at breakfast and no means of keeping the hot food hot for anyone who didn’t arrive at breakfast promptly at the start. The three course meal served at lunchtime with a hot main seemed totally inappropriate when a more relaxed cold buffet would have been preferred by most on board. Sometimes we were given no time to explore particular port as we had to cycle to the other side of the island to meet the boat in time for lunch and there were no impromptu swim stops off the boat as shown in your videos. On the whole I did really enjoy the week - the crew and guides were excellent although a little more flexibility from the captain would have been appreciated.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with your detailed feedback. We are happy to hear that you really enjoyed the week overall and appreciated the efforts of our crew and guides. This September has been unusually challenging weather-wise, and our team worked hard to adapt routes to ensure we could still deliver a great cycling experience. We are sorry that due to the unusually poor weather conditions, swim stops were not possible and that at times, you felt the schedule was rushed. Regarding food provided onboard, our chefs aim to provide a variety of meals using fresh, local produce, and we have found with the small kitchen space onboard the 3 courses work best and produce less food waste than lunch buffets. We generally receive high ratings for our onboard meals - with a score of 4.64 out of 5 throughout the entire 2024 season on our Premier Ships. We do however appreciate all of your feedback which has been passed on to the relevant teams so we can continue to improve our services. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you onboard again in the future.

Just needs some tweaking but cruise & size was lovely with amazing ports

Breakfast hours to be extended with better coffee, too weak! Shouldn’t have to purchase at ar to get good coffee. Overall the food needs improvement, meat was overcooked & repetitive. Also need to provide water in the cabins to be readily available especially through the night. Cabins could use updating, get rid of carpeting. Also replace lumpy pillows & improve mattress. Also provide snacks outside of meal hours or to purchase at bar. Lastly Captain’s dinner is nice idea but the entertainment overtook everything & too long, people couldn’t socialize as a result of being too loud. Our cruise Director & staff were good to us

Sail and Cykling on the Croatian islands.

The cabins were cold and the first nigt on board the boat we could hardly sleep due to the chill in the cabin. We could not control the tempreture in the cabin. The cabin had lower standard than we expected. The food served on board was not good.Breakfast was good but lunch and grill could have been better.. I had the feeling during the trip that we were alwayes in a hurry. and the cykling tours not relaxed. Not much time for fotos or to observe the scenery etc. Nevertheless we enjoyed the trip. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times.

Hi Pall, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your trip and found our staff friendly and helpful, though we're sorry to learn that some aspects didn't meet your expectations. Regarding the temperature in your cabin, we’d like to mention that the AC units onboard also have a heating function. Our Onboard Rep would have been more than happy to assist with this, had they been made aware of your discomfort. We appreciate your feedback on the meals. While breakfast met expectations, we'll pass your comments on to our team regarding the lunches served. In terms of the cycling pace, our Cycle cruises are designed for the more active traveler who enjoys a faster-paced itinerary. However, for those seeking a more relaxed experience with plenty of time to take in the scenery and capture photos, we offer other options such as our Explorer or Elegance cruises. These might be more suited to a leisurely travel experience in the future. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back onboard soon for another adventure.

I wanted a bit more!

The trip exceeded my expectations in some respects - we had the most wonderful crew who went out of their way to navigate around bad weather to ensure we could continue to cycle. They went beyond their call of duty. The aspects I believe could have been better in particular, is the food. The offering is tremendous in quantity but lacks sophistication and creativity. I was looking forward to having a Mediterranean experience but if fell short. Why serve mostly apples and bananas when figs and grapes were in season and readily available. The coffee machine was not working, and no cappuccinos was on offer but rather just brewed coffee. I trust that effort in this area could go a long way to improve the overall experience. All in all, it was an enjoyable trip in a wonderful country with exquisite crew members.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent trip with us. We are thrilled to hear that the experience exceeded your expectations in several areas, particularly the outstanding efforts of our crew. They take great pride in providing the best possible service, and it’s wonderful to know they were able to make your trip enjoyable, even in challenging weather conditions. We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding the food. While we strive to offer a generous selection, we do take your feedback onboard regarding incorporating seasonal fruits such as figs and grapes. Great suggestion! We regret the inconvenience caused by the coffee machine and the absence of cappuccinos during your trip. We do understand how important quality coffee is to many of our guests. Your insights are invaluable to us as we constantly work to enhance the overall experience, and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Thank you again for choosing us, and for your thoughtful feedback.

Sadly,Not all it was made out to be!

The so called premier ship was nothing like, much smaller than expected, the cabins were small and several needed attention. However the Captain and crew were very good at their job with boat and passenger safety spot on. They were all very friendly and helpful, with the male crew having to man handle over 30 bikes on and off the boat at every port, well done them. The cycle tours were rather disappointing as there were over 30 cyclist of varying ability, the front runners would be way ahead leaving the slower ones way behind. Not enough stops to enjoy the wonderful scenery and a chance for photos, ☹️ 25.00€, in cash, per person to enter the Mljet National Park, bit steep to cycle around the lakes, no stops to enjoy! Cycle guides would stop and give a little talk about the history of which ever island we were on. The food on the boat was OK but far too much at lunch time, so lots of waste, shame. The weather was not the best but that is not a fault! ⛈️ It was an experience for sure!

Dear Cymraes, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you appreciated the professionalism of our captain and crew, as well as their efforts with the bikes. Our Cycle Cruises are designed to accommodate all levels of cyclists, from beginners to advanced. By providing two guides - one at the front and one at the back - we aim to ensure everyone can cycle at their own pace. We're sorry to hear that you felt there weren’t enough opportunities to stop for photos. We will share this with the relevant department for review, and we appreciate your input on this. Mljet National Park is spectacular and definitely worth the visit. We advise on our website that the entrance fee is at an additional cost and payable locally. We’re disappointed to hear about the issues with the meals, as this is not reflective of the experience we aim to provide. We hope to welcome you back, with better weather, to experience another Cycle adventure.

Croatian fun

Booking system, we booked 6 mths in advanced, requested an above cabin but was told none available, several passengers got above cabin and only booked weeks in advance. Also check the actual names on the booking, we were husband and wife, they thought 2 females so got single beds! Food - very basic, military/camp style. Lots of hearty foods for colder weather, minimal salads or fresh foods, it was summer! It doesn't take much to be creative and add some flare to the meals - fresh herbs, chopped fresh fruit not tinned fruit salad!!!!! Cocktails - needs attention to detail - use proper cocktail glasses, get the fruit and decorations, make it an experience we want to repeat. Also very costly, if cheaper with flare more would have been bought. Option for more group activities, especially in the evenings. Offer group dinner on the last night. I'm sure there are plenty of restaurants in Split that would welcome a group of 30+ or you have a business relationship with that could offer this.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent Sail Croatia Cycle Cruise. We truly appreciate the time you've taken to provide your thoughts, as it helps us to understand where we can make improvements and enhance the experience for our guests. At the time of your booking, we only had Lower Deck cabins available which is what you booked. Our availability does change quickly based on any cancellations and new bookings that we receive, so we always encourage our travellers to check back with us in case of an opening. It is also possible to upgrade whilst on the cruise when there is availability. You simply needed to liaise with your onboard representative who would have been happy to facilitate this for you. We apologize for the mix-up regarding the genders of your travelling party. We will ensure that our team is more attentive to such details to avoid similar situations. This however had no bearing regarding the bed type in your cabin as any particular bedding needs to be requested to us as a preference. I have checked our correspondence with yourself and I was unable to locate any double bed preference advised to our sales team. We appreciate your feedback on the food selection. Our aim is to provide meals that cater to a wide range of tastes and dietary needs, but we understand that in summer, guests may prefer lighter options. We do appreciate your suggestions for more group activities, particularly in the evenings, and the idea of a group dinner on the final night is fantastic. We have certainly passed all your comments to our relevant teams as these insights and suggestions will help us improve, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back on board in the future.

Lots of Room for Improvement

Some more thought into the details would be recommended. I.e having food that suits the cultures on board/having an option for those that don’t eat fish/seafood for example. Some rooms Air Con didn’t work Some of the decisions and recommendations for activities dinner etc seemed strange and almost like there were “kick backs” or back scratching for certain places vs others. (Some of the organised dinner recommendations weren’t good) Lots/most of the activities that we saw online were not available. The boat owner needs to be much more friendly, less grumpy and controlling. Some of the logistics around swimming stops were obviously just to suit the boat and to be the most fuel/time efficient, which meant we were sometimes docked too early or swimming with boats passing by, not the crystal clear water advertised. Some of the staff were doing the bare minimum. The rep has potential but was barely engaging with the guests above giving a talk each day after lunchtime.

Dear Levi, Thank you for your review about your recent Explorer Cruise, Levi. We're sorry to hear that your experience didn't fully meet your expectations, and we truly value the time you took to share your thoughts. I can see we have received high feedback scores from your fellow travellers onboard, so we're sad to see that your experience fell short. The excursions are subject to minimum numbers and are organised by local supplierse in Croatia - we're sorry to hear that you were unable to take part in some of these. With regards to the logisitcs and the itinerary, it is not possible to reserve timeslots in port in Croatia, so our Captains try their best to arrive ahead of other ships to get the best placement for our guests, and also to ensure there is the perfect balance of time spent both on and off of the ship. Thank you for your feedback regarding the swim stops. We certainly do take food preferences and dietary requests onboard - we do ask our customers to let us know in advance if you have preferences and these are passed onto the Chef onboard. After looking into our communication with you, unfortunately we did not receive any preferences with regards to seafood or special requests. Lastly, your comments about the staff have been noted, and we’ll use your feedback to ensure better service across the board. We hope to welcome you in the future. Kind Regards

Excellent biking in Croatia

Overall I was quite satisfied with our boat, including our cabin. The crew members were friendly and helpful as were the leaders of the cycling trips. who did an amazing job, both on land and on sea. Areas where I would like to see improvement include having a Keurg in the dining area where it would be possible to get a cup of coffee earlier than a half hour before breakfast. Provide the cooked breakfast food hot. Lighter entrees with local seasonings would improve lunch entrees. A glass of wine served with the Captain's Dinner would be appropriate. Name tags for all should be provided and worn at least early in the trip. Include the day, Monday, Tuesday, etc., along with the name of the Island and towns where there will be stops. I hope my suggestions are helpful.

Great biking in Croatia

Meals and cycling should receive separate ratings. Our biking experience was better than we could have anticipated. Milah was professional and delightful. Andre was a great host and server; however, meal times degraded the experience for us. Breakfasts were never served hot, and lunches often consisted of lots of heavy noodles with heavy cream sauce and tenderized meat. Portions were always large, but the food was generally unappealing. We'd read reviews about gourmet fare on this experience and found nearly universally unappealing meals. The Captain's meal demonstrated the cook's capacity to make fine food, but it had been hiding until then. I would heartily recommend Sail Croatia for the challenging cycling experience, but would warn potential participants that meal time may more closely resemble a teenager's summer camp experience than an upscale adult experience.

We appreciate your comments on the cabin, air-conditioning and cash payments. Sailing times can vary and your helpful Onboard Rep will advise every day of the departure times to set expectations. Thank you again for your valued comments and suggestions.

Agenda

I had a good time but there were minor improvements I think that could be made to make it a great time. 1. When ocean is not great to swim in (Due to heat) offer to get the zodiac boat out and take few ppl to the little islands where we anchor. 2. Variety in breakfast 3. Everyone feels like lunch is v heavy and a lot (could scale back as u feel compelled to eat it 4. Bedroom designs: A) more hooks around the room given the limited space B) additional coat hangers C) ability to order some late night snacks or have them to purchase Lastly i was disappointed that when we got to split the crew had kinda given up it felt. They were disengaged and seemed like they were winding down Thursday night when we still have 2 days.

FOOD

We, as well as other guests, did NOT likethe food at all. Breakfast was good but the lunches were horrible. No fresh vegetables, all vegetables were frozen and mushy. Purées of I’m not sure what we’re always cold. Lasagna was good. A woman who only eats fish got what looked like frozen fish fingers. Basically the food was awful at lunch. The captains dinner was interrupted by Kara allowing the TV in for the rugby game Which followed by yelling and screaming. My husband had words with Klara. We left the dining room. It was ridiculous……chairs turned around toward the tv and we weren’t finished the main course. The partying that followed went on with very loud music and singing until after 1am. I think there were some complaints from other boats. The crew were always smoking at the window of the bar. The swim stops were amazing as were the islands and klara was a very good organizer. Would not recommend at this time.

End of Season Tired Vibes

Unfortunately night one we were stuck in the port due to bad weather. Everyone was left to fend for themselves with little information other than the boat should depart the following morning. Upon returning from dinner several people were still sitting on the boat with no room allocation. There was little to no communication as to when we could take our bags to our allocated rooms. The Sail Croatia representitive disappeared for several hours and it did not start off well. The entire crew energy felt tired and like they just wanted to be somewhere else. Positives from the trip - The food was excellent up until the last day. Things that can be improved to make everyones time better utilised - Each day our Sail Croatia Representitive would give a detailed speach about the port/town we were arriving into and the local things on offer. This was also provided in a WhatsApp message. Google Map links would be beneficial along with pre-booking activies like bikes/scooters. Most tours close 3pm

Wonderful guides but the boat needs improvement

When you travel and are doing rigorous exercise everyday in the heat more than a two towel per week seems necessary. Also the towels were all very old. The bedding needs more frequent changing. The bike ride difficulty needs more specific disclosure. Three hours in the saddle is a long time. Provide beach towels, more fresh vegetables. Also snacks for long hard rides, the riders without e bikes could have used it.

Review

The food was not that appetising - less boat group meals preferred- would like more solo/ on shore time for meals

- Louise, 27/08/2023 06:53, Travelled in a Couple

Below expectations

The food quality and choice needs to improve. Some staff need further training to be client facing - ***** in particular needs to better understand and demonstrate basic customer service etiquette. Mia - the tour guide was outstanding and is the reason for the 3rd star. We met some delightful people and formed what be expect to be lasting friendships with other passengers.

Smelly Cabin!

We loved the cruise but what brought the star rating down for us was the daily smell of sewage in our cabin. We complained twice daily about the smell. Going to our cabin was not a pleasure. Certain cabins were worse off than others. AUD $7,500 for a week to cruise and smell waste in your sleeping area is poor!

I'm sorry to hear this, so I did investigate this further for you and can see the issue was resolved swiftly by the crew that same day, which is great. I understand your Rep Boris explained, at times if there is bad weather, smell can occur in the bathroom emitting from the shower drains. This is due to the movement of the ships on the water whereby this movement opens up airflow at the back of the pipe and into the bathroom. We are sorry about this and wish to thank you for joining us for a fantastic week on board!

Esperanza

Direction and information from tour director Service and attitude of staff on board Not being rushed at every meal Not removing the breakfast buffet at exactly 9am every morning and then asking everyone to leave the area immediately. Extending the bar closing hours and if it is to close so early allow guests to bring alcohol on board Would have liked to see the director and crew on our final morning to bid us farewell. Felt like a very cold exit.

Needs more inclusions for the high price

Sail was an amazing experience. I want to thank Klara and the crew (Ivan and Fillip) for making it a very memorable week. Beyond the amazing crew’s efforts, I want to raise one very important consideration that Sail Croatia should acknowledge moving forward. In light of the premium price paid by each passenger, we all expected for more to be included as part of our wrist bands we wore around everywhere. We did not get anything for free with the wrist bands which was extremely disappointing. I recall friends of my mine previously doing the same sail in 2019 and noting that Carpe Diem entry fee being included, Mljet national park, Revelin and others being FREE. As is, the Sail is not cheap and I was shocked to discover the above were not included. Until Sail Croatia remedies these factors, I will not be recommending the experience to others.

cleanliness could be improved

being able to get new clean towels for showering would of been good as the rooms and bathrooms get so disgusting especially since there are no curtains on the showers so water gets everywhere. i didn’t expect the drinks to be as expensive as they were. the crew was great regardless of these factors.

Olimp

We enjoyed our 7 nights on Olimp but a few changes could improve our experience More water toys needed ie kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear and floats. Non alcoholic beer would be nice for those who can’t have alcohol. Noticed other boats had umbrellas for rainy days. 7 days of exactly the same breakfast was boring. Our waiters and guide were excellent.

Brilliant itinerary

Our trip on Tempera was memorable for the lovely port schedule & tasty, well prepared meals. But since I have been asked to answer "what would I have changed to improve the product", here goes: Pre-departure information regarding the trip was patchy & very generic, including changing our boat (which we readily agreed to, without realising the trip would be accomodating such a young client profile) Some sailing times were very early in the morning, which meant no chance of getting a lie-in. There was quite a lot of hovering outside ports, so whilst not sailing, not able to sight-see either. Breakfast time could have been extended, especially on the days when we weren't in port until mid-afternoon, to enable a more leisurely start to the day. It was quite damp in our cabin, & noisy at night, with lots of smoking. Despite all of the above, we really did enjoy ourselves. Ioana, our guide, was enthusiastic & communicated very well. All staff worked tirelessly, especially catering: thanks.

I felt that the prices for alcohol onboard were very expensive . The organizational skills of our host were non existent . We had to constantly ask for information and many times ( especially when on excursions) we were left trying to organise ourselves and sort out transportation issues !

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to write your review Arlene. After reviewing customer feedback, it's great to see you enjoyed some aspects of your cruise; Captain's Dinner, cabin, boat in general and the onboard crew, to name a few. We are pleased to inform you that our internal reporting shows that the majority of guests on your ship provided five-star feedback for the cruise and the service provided by our onboard Rep. However, we are disappointed to learn that your experience did not align with the rest of the group's positive feedback and this will be passed on. We hope to welcome you back to show the improvements made.

Not as good as last time

The cruise director was not as informative or involved as the cruise guide we had on our previous Elegance Cruise (Olimp) in 2018. He did not accompany us in any of the towns, rather just pointed us in the direction of the buildings of significance. Our previous guide, Ana, was excellent. On our previous cruise, a glass of wine or beer was included with lunch. This has been discontinued. I had specifically asked in advance, about paying by credit or debit card and was told that we could via an email response. Day one, our cruise director informs us that the port fee of 30E each and the bar tab had to be paid in cash. I would recommend that people choose either Dubrovnik to Split/Split to Dubrovnik rather than Split to Split (north). More to see and enjoy. Croatia has become very expensive after changing to the Euro.

Hi Amanda - thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with some aspects of your cruise, especially as a valued past client. Having a look through our internal reports, the majority of guests on your ship provided five-star feedback for the cruise and the exceptional service provided by our onboard Rep. We are disappointed to learn that your experience did not align with the rest of the group's positive feedback. We are sorry about the misinformation regarding the bar tab payment and this will be followed up via our Operations Team. In regards to the City Walks, our reps are no longer allowed to do this as this is all monitored by local authorities. Your feedback is very important to us and the points raised will be passed over to the relevant departments where improvements will be made where possible. Thanks again for joining us this season!
