Sail Croatia’s Dedication to Responsible Tourism
In 2016 Sail Croatia founded Green Sail, a non-profit organisation that promotes and supports sustainable tourism in the Croatian nautical industry.

Green Sail offers Walking Tours to Sail Croatia guests, allowing the organisation to highlight the environmental challenges arising in Split from tourism. All money raised from Walking Tours goes straight back to Green Sail.
Green Sail educates the nautical tourism industry through its education and training programs for partners. It is proud to have educated over 800 Marina staff members since 2017.
The Green Sail Footprint verification system is used to measure and reduce the environmental impact of nautical tourism.
Green Sail participates in key industry events, advocating for policy changes that address the practical challenges of sustainability. Green Sail also provides access to free online sustainability courses.
Green Sail coordinates community initiatives and events such as Recycling Programs at Partner Marinas and Beach Clean Ups with the support of volunteers and sponsors.
The Green Sail Flag initiative drives awareness for the protection of the seas and oceans we rely on.
In partnership with Green Sail and environmental specialists, Sail Croatia has audited the environmental impact of our cruises. By providing transparent CO₂e data for each cruise type, we empower guests to make informed choices while actively working on reducing our footprint and developing the next steps to offset emissions.
Under the Green Sail Footprint Program, we measure the CO₂e emissions of every Sail Croatia yacht and catamaran. This gives us a clear view of our environmental impact and guides continuous improvements through sustainable features like solar panels, watermakers, and energy-efficient solutions.
Sail Croatia Representatives undergo mandatory sustainability training to ensure they can effectively convey our environmental values to customers.
Environmental Policies are present on each of our ships and yachts, reminding guests how to cruise with care.
Every crew member must complete Green Sail's Marine Sustainability Course before the cruising season, ensuring they understand the issues impacting Croatia's nautical tourism industry.
Sail Croatia guests are educated on eco-initiatives through Green Sail’s Walking Tour, which highlight local history and sustainability efforts.
We encourage guests to reduce their use of single-use plastic bottles by ensuring water refill stations are available onboard our ships. Guests are advised to pack a reusable water bottle that can be re-filled onboard.
Sail Croatia partners with small family businesses and restaurants that prioritise locally sourced produce for an ethical & authentic experience.
