WHAT IS THE CROATIA SKIPPER COURSE?

This 7 day training course incorporates the practical and theoretical knowledge required to become a competent and safe Skipper.

This practical course takes place onboard 43ft yachts and utilises one on one mentoring and training from professional skippers across a 7 day program.

The program will cover everything you need to know in order to become a confident skipper, including Navigation, Safety, Sailing and Skipper skills, and Mechanical troubleshooting.

On completion of the training, participants will have all the skills required to sail in Croatia as an independent Skipper.

How do I become a certified Skipper in Croatia?

If you don't already hold an international Skippers license, you are able to complete a practical and theoretical test and obtain a Category C Skippers License in Croatia. This qualification, or an accepted international license, will allow you to skipper a vessel in Croatia.

How long is the Croatia Skipper Course?

This practical, hands on course is 7 days long, departing from and ending in Split.

When and where does the course start?

The course will be held at ACI Marina, Split, and check-in will commence at 12pm on day 1

When and where does the course finish?

The course will finish at 8:30am in ACI Split Marina on day 8

Which topics does this course cover?

Navigation, safety, sailing, skipper skills, and mechanical troubleshooting.

What license is required to skipper a boat in Croatia?

A Category C Skippers license is required to legally skipper a boat in Croatia. On this license you can skipper any type of boat, and all yachts up to 30 gross tonnes. Some international licenses are also accepted. See the list of valid international skipper licenses, here.

Will completing this course guarantee me a work placement?

In addition to passing the practical elements of this course, you will also need to obtain a Category C Skippers License. Once you’ve completed both elements, you will be prepared for a career skippering professionally in Croatia, however it does not guarantee a work placement.
