Shore-Based Marine Technician

Shore-Based Marine Technician
  • Split (ACI Marina) + Milna
  • Full-time
  • Year-round

THE ROLE

Sail Croatia operates a fleet of 23 sailing yachts and catamarans out of Split and Milna. Our guests spend a week at a time living onboard, which means everything has to work. When something doesn't, we fix it before the next charter, not after.

We're looking for a technician who wants to own a broad remit: engines, electrics, plumbing, rigging, hull - across a mixed fleet of Jeanneau, Beneteau, Hanse, and Lagoon vessels. You'll be shore-based, working as part of a small technical team and coordinating directly with our operations manager.

This is a hands-on role with a lot of variety. No two days are the same, and you'll develop real depth across multiple systems and vessel types.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

  • Engines & generators
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing & sanitation
  • Air conditioning & HVAC
  • Hull & structural
  • Navigation & electronics
  • Deck & mechanical
  • Safety & compliance

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Hands-on experience with marine, automotive, or industrial mechanical systems
  • Confidence working independently and diagnosing faults under time pressure
  • Comfortable working across engine, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Good written communication - you'll log every task in our fleet management platform
  • Right to work in Croatia (EU citizenship or valid work permit)
  • Willing to work weekends during the charter season (April–October)
  • English to a working level - our fleet tools and team are multilingual
  • Able to get to ACI Marina Split reliably

Formal qualifications matter less to us than the right attitude and a genuine interest in boats. If you've built real skills in a related trade - marine, automotive, HVAC, electrical - and you're drawn to working on the water, we want to hear from you.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Year-round, full-time employment - not a seasonal contract
  • A structured training programme covering all major vessel systems and vessel types in the fleet
  • Clear progression: We track competency by domain and reward technicians who develop genuine expertise
  • Working environment where you build broad skills fast - our fleet spans monohulls and catamarans, inboards and outboards
  • A small, direct team - no layers of management, real ownership of your work
  • Competitive salary discussed at interview, based on experience

HOW TO APPLY

No CV needed. Here's how it works:

  • Short video interview - Record four short questions at a time that suits you. This takes about 10 minutes, and you can do it from your phone.
  • Call or meeting - if we like what we see, we'll set up a conversation to go deeper: your background, the role, and whether it's the right fit on both sides.
  • Offer - we move quickly. If it's a yes, we'll make it formal and agree on a start date.

We review every application personally and reply to all candidates.
