Meeting Point

From the Airport, there is a regular airport shuttle bus that meets each flight and can take you to the harbour. The journey time is 45 minutes – 1 hour and the fare is approximately €10. Taxis are available from outside the airport and a typical fare is the equivalent of about €50 - €60. There are ATM machines at the airport if you need local currency.

Check-in is from ACI Marina in Split harbour at 12pm. The marina is located to the west end of the Main harbour in Split (when standing on the main Riva in front of the Diocletian Palace you will see the yacht masts to the right of the entrance to the harbour). This is a 25 minute walk from where the airport shuttle terminates and the main ferry harbour where the central bus and train terminals are.

Please head to the platform (shown on the map) for a 12pm check-in

The address is: ACI Marina Split Uvala Baluni 8 HR-21000 Split

Crew List

For each tour, we are required by law to ensure we have each crew member registered onboard the yacht. Please ensure you fill in the Crew List Form so we have all details required from each member of crew.

What to Bring

Pack as light as possible for a Mediterranean climate, prioritising items like t-shirts, shorts and swimmers. It’s also important to be prepared for wet and windy conditions during the training, so we’d advise including a lightweight jacket or jumper as a windbreaker for when the yacht is sailing and you’re learning the ropes. Closed-in boat shoes (white soles only), waterproof pants and a jacket (or a sailing suit) are recommended for wet weather and night navigation training modules.

Don’t forget any phone or camera chargers and if needed an adaptor - the power points onboard are standard European rounded 2 pin sockets (220 volts, AC, 50 hertz).

Soft bags such as backpacks, duffel bags or gym bags are preferable to hard-cased suitcases, as these tend to be a bit more cumbersome and take up a lot more space onboard.

Please note: bedding and towels for showering are provided.

Check out

Your yacht will return to ACI Marina, Split on the afternoon of day 10. You will check out from your yacht at 8.30am on day 11 of the Professional Skipper Training Course.

Budget Planning: Food & Drinks

Daily breakfast is included in the Professional Skipper Training Course. You will need to budget for all other meals and drinks. Each yacht is equipped with a kitchenette including a gas stove, oven and kettle. There is a small grocery store at ACI Marina in Split as well as the many stops during the week. This way you can pick out exactly the food you'll prefer for breakfast and lunch at sea. In the evenings you'll have a wide variety of restaurant options.

Money & Insurance

As of January 2023, the official currency of Croatia is the Euro. You can get a cash advance on your credit card at banks throughout the country, though Visa credit cards are not accepted by all banks.

Most towns and islands in Croatia have ATMs that are linked to international networks. Credit cards (Visa/MasterCard is most recognised) are accepted in most tourist areas, but if you are travelling off the beaten path, be prepared to use cash.

We recommend that all passengers travelling on Sail Croatia trips have personal insurance to cover medical and repatriation costs.

Passenger Yacht Rules

We share our responsibility to protect Croatia's environment and culture with our guests and require that our travellers respect the Skipper and have consideration for his yacht. Yacht rules are to protect our customers onboard and we would like all clients to have consideration for other people. If, in our opinion, any passenger behaves in a way to cause, or likely to cause, danger or distress to any third party we reserve the right to terminate the travel of the person(s) concerned without any refund.

Passengers onboard are obliged to abide to the yacht rules, as the Skipper is responsible for the safety of all passengers and the crew. The Skipper has the right to change the itinerary in case of bad weather or similar inappropriate conditions in ports to ensure safety onboard.

  • Drugs Policy: We have a zero policy toward drugs. Anyone in possession of drugs will be asked to leave the ship immediately and will be reported to the police.
  • Noise - please respect the Port Authority noise restrictions in each port
  • It is forbidden to throw rubbish into the sea
  • Blockages- do not throw anything in the toilet, including toilet paper.
  • Portholes- ensure they are closed while sailing to avoid water entering your cabin
  • Smoking in the salon and cabins is not allowed. Cigarette butts must not be thrown in the sea
  • Bed linen must not be taken out of the cabins
  • Water is a problem on every boat; therefore please ration it very carefully.

You Skipper will be available for any questions or queries and will do their best to make your stay onboard a most pleasurable one!

Resolving Problems Onboard

We only wish to have happy customers onboard our yachts. Most problems can be resolved quickly and there is no reason to endure ongoing issues on your tour. However, unless we know about a problem, we cannot begin to resolve it. We encourage you to communicate problems immediately. We have found most issues are often simple language or cultural issues so we have put together this simple step by step guide to help you through this process and make resolutions a breeze:

Step 1: Please communicate problems to your Skipper immediately so they are able to address them. Our Skippers are responsible for resolving these problems and will assist wherever they can.

Step 2: If you feel your problem has not been resolved, please text or call our Yacht Operations Team on +385 95 611 2015.

By following the process above we will have a clear record of events from all parties involved and we will have been given every opportunity to resolve problems for you.

If you still wish to make a formal complaint this can be emailed to [email protected] with information on the issue and the steps you took to resolve it onboard.

In any critical situations please contact our Crew Manager on 00385 95 611 2015 or Grant Seuren, Managing Director, Sail Croatia, on +44(0)7 8151 44 618.
