WHAT IS THE ACTIVE GUIDE TRAINING?
The Active Guides training will focus on equipment knowledge, the role of Active Guides on our Cycle Croatia and Hike Croatia Cruises, first aid, cycling routes and destination knowledge. The training will be completed with the assistance of presentations, discussions and practical workshops.
The first day will involve a Bike Workshop and First Aid Session (run by the HGSS), with the second and third days of the training being the practical elements of the course that will take place on the field. Successful participants will gain important skills and inside knowledge of the active tourism industry.

By invitation: A face to face interview allows us to get to know you better, run through the details of the position and give you a chance to ask any questions.
By Invitation: Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to complete a large part of the training online. Upon completion, applicants will have a solid understanding of the company, role expectations and challenges.
Upon completion of the online training, you will be invited to the Active Guide Training where you will complete everything from Bike Maintenance and Customer Care, to Health & Safety and First Aid.
Congratulations! If you’ve made it this far you would have been offered a position as an Active Guide! All that’s left to do is finalise your contract, organise your uniform and get ready to set sail!
Active Guides will begin by shadowing an experienced Guide for a week. The Shadow week allows new staff to put their training into practice and learn the ropes on how to thrive in this fast-paced role.
After a successful season as an Active Guide, you may be offered a position for the following season, or the opportunity to progress to other parts of the business.

Our training programs and positions have been designed to prepare you to be an Active Guide and available positions will only be offered to the best candidates subject to our business needs. Whilst we can’t guarantee you a position with us, many of our candidates will use the training and knowledge they have acquired to apply for other positions within the tourism industry.
We welcome applicants from all ages, genders and nationalities that are able to work in Croatia. Successful applicants will be self-starters with high energy levels and exceptional customer service skills. A keen interest and understanding of trails, terrain, flora and fauna is highly advantageous.
No, you will not be paid for attending the Active Guide Training.
The Active Guide Training will take place across 3 days.
Unfortunately you will not be offered a position as an Active Guide if you're unable to attend the hands-on training course.
This skill is not mandatory, however speaking Croatian is definitely an advantage, as one of your responsibilities will be to communicate between the crew and the guests.
Yes, we have staff accomodation available for you to stay in during your training and when you have scheduled time off in between your working weeks.
